- FR: 66 616 (12,6 %)
- ES: 51 580 (9,8 %)
- IT: 42 691 (8,1 %)

How on earth do the people in Tasmania get around?
Sure, but what about density?
Are the Netherlands first on a density basis ?
Interesting video about it (in French ) : https://youtu.be/dXHcAH8lHao?is=ewV1tsw9Fi5O1YET
Must be a pro in City Skylines
Ironically for Spain, second country with most roundabouts and nobody knows how to use them properly.
Roundabouts are life
Crazily ironic that both France and Spain have the most roundabouts and yet have the worst possible rules on using them
[Yes, but do they have the magic roundabout?](https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g187049-d12548131-Reviews-The_Magic_Roundabout-Swindon_Wiltshire_England.html)
> France leads with over 141k roundabouts […] followed by Spain with 120k.
That’s close enough to drop the „it’s not even close“ in the title.
It’s a great way for municipalities to spend money (because France also has 36k or thereabouts municipalities).

Does this take into account Basingstoke?
What if we compare the area a roundabout covers? Yk like a two lane roundabout vs a 4 lane one?
What’s the per capita number? The UK is famous for roundabouts but France is larger so can squeeze more in than we can. This is very important data.
140k in France to 120k in Spain while Spain is a smaller country with a smaller population. That’s actually quite close.
Since I was driving in Brittany, I can certainly confirm that.
who has the most rotaries
Belgium seems to have plenty too, but we’re a smaller country than France
and uk has milton keynes
Yes but does it have the Magic Roundabout?
No. Swindon wins..
Light Blue Banana
Yes
And half of them are in Nantes
Have in mind that France also has by far the most properly mapped OSM. While i think it will still have the highest amount, its a fact that is good to have in mind while looking at this.

I didn’t know they glow at dark 😃
141k roundabouts? That is like what, one for every 450 souls? Wow.
I thought Stevenage had 100k on it’s own
Boston metro representing 🙌
what’s the most surprising map you’ve come across here?
How is this so wrong then, albeit from 3 years ago:

What not Portugal ? Must be per capita
I mean… France is one of the main inventors of the roundabout… so…
Looking at this map, Poland is already more developed than east Germany.. at least by the roundabouts.
Portugal has a great roundabout system, at least in the Algarve region; every roundabout contains a piece of art which makes stopping and asking for directions much more fun. “Straight over at the Dolphin, left at the watch and then take the first right off the bucket and spade.”
Roundabouts are great. They put a couple in to replace a couple shitty intersections in my town, and other than the occasional senile driver cutting someone off to get in there or dumbass in a lifted truck driving straight over the middle, it’s worked fantastic.
op has never been to East Kilbride so….
Ok but what countries have the fewest roundabouts? I see them in basically every country here (can’t really tell about Pacific island nations). Even Greenland has a few!
I also want to know what is the most isolated roundabout in the world? I.e. the one roundabout that is furthest away from all other roundabouts (Roundabout Nemo?). Looks like a good candidate in Manitoba…
I’m not sure your data is correct, due to how OSM records roundabouts.
Like has your data got all of these? (Sorry, I can’t check the csv on my phone – it’s too large)
[What OSM calls a mini roundabout.](https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=19/51.482849/-2.612941)

[A roundabout in function, but not necessarily in name.](https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=17/51.449033/-2.590327)
[A gyratory, which is a more complex, non-round type of roundabout, but named a roundabout.](https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=18/51.465805/-2.575312)

I was there in the 90s when they went crazy converting every intersection. Believe me there were a number of times I saw tire tracks going straight through.
yep. i confirm. and its wonderful
funny how tiny countries like san marino top the per capita list
Something to thank the Brits for
Currently learning how to drive. (In France)
And its apprently a mandatory and vital skill to learn how to deal with the different roundabouts.
Already had several lessons, just focused on this.
