      I feel bad for them.

On the other hand, I shouldn’t let my feelings get between them and what they voted for.

„In the Michigan presidential primary, Donald Trump received over 68% of the vote in Saline Township.“

    2. Im sure there are other means to make the data center go away, but the only ones I can think of will get me banned by Reddit’s AI moderation.

“If voting made a difference, they wouldn’t let us do it.”

      Possibly Mark Twain

I would never sabotage nor would I encourage anyone to but I wonder if they will.

Here’s to hoping there are so many unexplained incidents messing up construction that they end up leaving.

Ah, the freedoms Republicans feel they can treat us like when they are in power.

So much winning. I swear, all I have been hearing this year is „such and such was voted on but those in powers said no after they didn’t like the result.

They feel empowered because of this current administration and just continue to say screw the citizens.

Michigan voted for the billionaire oligarchy (68%) and they got a billionaire oligarchy.

    8. I wish people would stop linking articles behind paywalls. Copy and paste people!
Edit: or post a key highlight(s)!

Ok well people when the government doesn’t act in your best interest what is the next step we should take?? I really think it’s time to take it to the next level

Barakah’s four reactors produce 5.6 GW. This one data center needs 1.4 GW. That’s 25% of a nuclear fleet for a single facility. Has anyone modeled what this does to DTE’s grid planning?

Messing with people with more guns than fingers, access to large amounts of explosive materials and from communities with deep ties to militias is certainly an interesting strategy.

    12. Sounds to me like the people of that town deserve to own that data center and the profits of whatever it generates

Has anyone here read „The Monkey Wrench Gang“?

Not relevant to the conversation, just curious.

They need to find out the names of the individuals in the city or town who approved the construction.

    15. It’s crazy that data centers can get built overnight but when someone suggests legalizing duplexes in the Denver metro residents riot at city hall

Companies have forgotten that Unions, civil discussion, town voting, and general democratic processes are the just our compromise from doing the other thing.

    17. Bummer for the community, especially what with such fire traps data centers are. Liable to just burst into flames of their own accord. Sort of a *spontaneous combustion* event.

      Proposed ICE facilities too.

Ellison with that little fuckin half smirk saying „silly plebs, we only did the vote to let you feel like you mattered. But you voted wrong, so…“

    19. Why aren’t there class action lawsuits??

This is the main reason the data centers are getting pushed through so quickly. Nobody is using the judicial system to stop them. Suing & asking for discovery to prove government officials were bribed is essential to stopping this.

Just do what you have to do. I won’t elaborate, there’s no other way to solve this.

The lack of oversight is causing wealthy elites to stop even pretending to follow our laws and demands. Unchecked power has gone on long enough and it’s long beyond time to start seizing our wealth back.

    22. # Banksy: „The Earth isn’t dying, it’s being killed, and those who are killing it have names and addresses.“

    23. so much winning… at some point when are we, collectively, going to say enough..??
