Das Orangenfest ist eine jährliche Veranstaltung, die früher jedes Jahr in der besetzten Stadt Famagusta stattfand. Dieses Jahr fand die Veranstaltung aufgrund der anhaltenden illegalen türkischen Besatzung in Ayia Napa statt. In der Hoffnung, dass wir das Fest nach unserer Rückkehr bald wieder in Famagusta feiern können.

The Island has been seperated since 1975, and the state of Northern Cyprus was founded in 1983 or so. It has been over 40 years at least. Your wording makes it sound like it happened just a day ago. Make it make sense for God’s sake.
There was a plan for unification, Cypriots said no. Illegal whining.
