We as a society need to celebrate that fewer and fewer teens are having kids. Back in the 2000s, there were reality shows about Teen Moms. I always found that whole concept weird.

I think people (men and women) having kids that old is kinda shitty. By the time the kids are 30 the parents will be 70. If the kids have kids at 30, when the grandkids are 10 the grandparents are 80. Cmon.

    4. This is mostly a good thing, but I hope the near future sees meaningful health-span improvements for these older parents. between these two groups, changing nothing else, that’s 20+ years of overlap gone.

Granted, the quality of the relationship will probably be much better on average. A child of a 40 years is almost always deeply wanted and cared for. Teenage pregnancies are often unwanted children that do not get as good of an upbringing.

Ideally children at a later age will have fewer trade offs in the future, kids benefit from more mature/ stable parents.

    5. Any ideas about what caused the bump around 2007? As far as I know those teen pregnancy reality shows didn’t start till 2009 and I can’t think of anything else

I wonder how these two cohorts of kids turn out differently in say their 20s.
