good question. i think it’s because metal is a small scene compared to pop, most metal bands are self-funded and aren’t in it for money, and also i’d imagine the vast majority think the demon stuff is made-up and funny, rather than real an conspiratorial. i think in the 70s/80s and a bit in the 90s metal was probably funded by the types of entities that are pushing the demonic pop stuff now because metal was a lot more popular then, an example is Dio — i’d wager that Dio was clued in, sold his soul, participated in the demonic madness, etc.. Iron Maiden? maybe, but I’d say probably not. a band like Behemoth? i think they’re just having fun and unaware of what lies behind their themes. this is just my opinion though, could definitely be wrong. what do you guys think ?

Because metal isn’t pop music made for the general public. Satanic met as l is what it is and it’s not popular.

    3. Refriedfeinds on

Most songs and metal bands bring awareness to the toxic societies. Pretty much every metal band has a song about how shitty the entities in charge are. It might sound dark and scary but it really isn’t. The other percentage is gobbledygook gruesome sounding words.

      Some pretty big examples:

      Black Sabbath war pigs

      Metallica one

      Clutch x-ray vision

I’m sure there’s more but the metal I listen to doesn’t have much for lyrics. Point is it’s about vibrations and heavily distorted guitar and bass with a solid double kick just vibrates. This is coming from a dead head. Wanna talk music conspiracies we can go there but metal is basically ironically scary to those used to gum drops and rose kisses.

    4. I think this is one of the most ironic things ever. The only real satanists in metal are those that OPENLY say it or some black metal bands, and they’re very few.

The whole rest of metal just likes the dark aesthetics of it all, and to deep dive in the dark sides of human nature a lot. But we’re not really demonic nor satanists nor nothing of the ilk.

HOWEVER, these pop bands with CONSTANT demonic imagery, and fucked up imagery at that, because if you look at something like IMMORTAL, you can see they’re having fun with the whole thing. But go to a couple of The Weekend and Lady Gaga’s concert and tell me that shit isn’t for real.

They do it for some other fucked up reason. There’s no metal musicians in the Epstein Files. There’s no metal musicians saying they’re going to pizza parties.

I could go on but you get it

    5. I think most people know the music industry in general is pretty much satanic but many don’t care or are satanic themselves

    6. mr_megaspore on

You’ve never heard about how Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to heaven says Oh sweet Satan backwards?

AC/DC was thought to meant antichrist devil child and serial killer Richard Ramirez loved them.

Marylin Manson is thought to inspire the columbine shooters.

Many of these artists where seen as fishy when they were relevant and rightly so.

They are not anymore and Bring me the Horizon is only known today because of the Gigachad meme.

What’s the trend today is things like Taylor Swift and Travis Scott which ironically seem to be more satanic then the artists previously mentioned.

Metal musicians are some of the biggest fucking nerds out there. No way they’re sacrificing babies to Satan… They almost all do shit like collect comic books and action figures and play D&D and watch Star Trek and any other nerdy thing you can imagine. I’m not even joking… I’ve been friends with metal musicians and they’re almost all like that.

    8. Metal bands have some of the smartest lyrics of any genre. A lot of them are about overcoming things or hating the establishment. Nothing demonic about most of them

    9. The metal bands do it because they know it’s fun to watch the bible-beaters clutch their pearls over nonsense.

    10. South-Rabbit-4064 on

I feel you on this. Pop music demon shit is by far my least favorite realm of conspiracy. There’s just so much god damn music out there now that I just don’t think pop musicians have the same weight they had when I was a kid. Which has led to what I think is „perceived“ as demonic because the only way to make a name for yourself in an over saturated market is to make a spectacle of yourself, or be really really good at what you do, and one of those is easy

    11. thedavesiknow1 on

It’s all just pageantry for all of them in the mainstream. Carefully coreographed for shock value, but safe as hell. The Tampa metal scene has some artists that are sort of about that life, but anything going on there is nothing like what was happening in Norway in the 90’s.

    12. TonyTheSwisher on

Because metal exists outside of the mainstream and the imagery is viewed as part of the scene.

    13. because a lot of metal is blatantly demonic. there’s nothing to expose. it exposes itself

    14. Pop is curtailed and mainstream. So the messages likely aren’t coming from the artists. That leads to speculation as to why the message is what it is. Who is making the message and why. Ozzy wore the cross for protection, im pretty sure Madonna did it ironically.

    15. Rich-Ad1974 on

Mötley crüe summed it up really well in an interview once, they were getting shit over the satanic panic stuff and basically said the song is called SHOUT at the devil not running with the devil if anybodys satanic its those other guys.

    16. therallystache on

The „satanic panic“ era really did a number on people’s ability to understand what metal is even about. Even performatively explicit „Satanic“ bands like Ghost are all doing it tongue in cheek to poke fun at and criticize the massive corruption of governments and religious establishments.

    17. Radio_Global on

You can’t just post this without the most important info, who are you seeing?? (Curiousity from a djent student)

    18. Because that’s their whole MO, they get a pass. And from my limited experience and general knowledge, I would say probably at least 90% of these bands do not take it seriously.

Most of that „demonic pop“ is likely manufactured too, its good for attention not to mention if you overanalyse every blink of an eye you will find what you’re looking for.

    19. If you want a real answer metal is probably just more liked by people on this sub than not. Maybe not a majority but it’s more supported than just a random sample of people would be. There are demographic and philosophical reasons why there are probably more metal heads on here than normal. But ultimately thats it. Plenty of conspiracy people bring up metal musics satan connection. They just aren’t on here as much.

    20. Extreme_Therapist on

Im not on the whole „all music is demon-music“ wagon. That being said, some pop music is subversive and overtly trying to push a message that is often different from the feel-good bubble lyrics and beats that it contains.

This hidden agenda in pop, makes it creepy, all the subconscious messaging, subliminal trigger visuals, etc.

Metal does not have the HIDDEN agenda, you know what you’re getting.

    21. Gh0stface513 on

It’s all noise and distraction. There’s emails with these people talking about exactly what they do. Theyre not smart and they’re not supernatural theyre just rich perverts. There’s no need for elaborate public displays or hidden messages it’s so much more boring than that and some people just can’t accept that life is boring and sad sometimes.

    22. Baphomet was originally not a satanic symbol. It is a symbol that acts like a „mirror“. It is goat-headed because its head represents the animal nature in the human being that has to be transcended. For example, if You already feel fearful just by seeing its head, it could mean that You are subconsciously fearful of the animal nature in You. And when You are fearful You will interpret the rest of the symbols on Baphomet literally instead of seeing them metaphorically.

The satanic symbols used in the mainstream are also animalistic. The satanic symbols are designed to trigger or bring out the animal nature in their audience. The devil is usually portrayed a red colored creature with two horns and a tail. This is because they symbolize the animal nature in the human being. Red is the color of the Root Chakra, which is associated with survival and this includes fear, anxiety, uncertainty, lust, gluttony, etc. Why do You think fast food chains like McDonald, Burger King, KFC, etc use red color in their symbols?

My advice is stop consuming the mainstream and stop feeding them attentions. Even if Your goal is to uncover and interpret all satanic symbols in the mainstream, You still have to consume them first. To consume them, You need to give them attention. Attention is energy. That’s why many People usually feel tired psychologically after over-consuming mainstream products.

    23. The mainstream music industry can literally choose any theme but its constantly Satan and devil worship. Like, is there some PR group that has stats on why Satan is the most popular and brings in the most money? Or is there a more sinister spiritual agenda done on purpose?

    24. DuckworthBuckington on

It’s true this didn’t start yesterday. Back when metal bands were popular there was plenty of controversy around Black Sabbath and AC/DC. Satanic panic was not a delusional hysteria despite what the media claims. They injected the shit into the culture and people who were outraged then were the ones who fully understood what the result would eventually be: our current society and culture.

It’s disgusting but hey the people love it. The devil never was particularly unpopular to humanity after all.

    25. Cute-Currency-1004 on

Yeah I see no common ground at all, and can’t comapre these to situations at all, metal music openly embraces that topic trough lyrics, imagery, appearance and mostly in the service of „shock“ value, or sometimes just to sing about it, whereas for pop/hip hop or whatever artists it just seems out of place completely, with no connection to their lyrics, presence, so either it’s also designed for shock value and keep everyone talking or, well you know…

    26. The Faceless – Autotheist Movement I: Create

„I, I consummate this realm through the vision I possess
I, I rise above consecrated imposition
      The pious flame
A flame extinguished from the mind
I must create a new reality

No creator in the heavens above (I am the lightning)
      Rest your weary mind
No demons in the furnace below (I am the frenzy)
I have realized I am God

I have realized I am God

I, I will descend to the depths of man
      Proclaim to the void
      Emptying my cup
      The starved, weary, thirsting

From God’s barren grave within the garden of untruths
A flower takes bloom and births a new reality

No creator in the heavens above (I am the lightning)
      Rest your weary mind
No demons in the furnace below (I am the frenzy)
I have realized I am God.

I have realized I am God.
      I have realized“

    27. Because people „know“ metal bands are demonic. Pop bands are considered wholesome, so any „dark“ imagery is scrutinized
