
Benkunskas plädiert für eine gesetzliche Regelung, die von Nicht-EU-Bürgern verlangt, bei der Verlängerung befristeter Aufenthaltsgenehmigungen nach drei Jahren mindestens Litauischkenntnisse auf dem Niveau A2 nachzuweisen. Derzeit besteht keine solche Anforderung.

At the same time we need to multiply Lithuanian language class availability for foreigners.

I’m all for residents knowing the local language but why only non-EU ones? German living in LT should also know Lithuanian…

Mayoral election PR campaign continues because what does a candidate need? Public visibility, especially on a topic that people in general agree with, so this is exactly that, „look at how good Benkunskas is, wink wink nudge nudge“, all the while leaving aside the point that public backing alone is very unlikely to result in anything concrete.
