    1. huh, surprised Nigeria is lowest. Thought it was a fairly up and coming African state, compared to many others.

      All CIS countries except Armenia, UNITE! 🇲🇩 🇧🇾 🇺🇦 🇷🇺 🇬🇪 🇦🇿 🇰🇿 🇰🇬 🇹🇯 🇹🇲 🇺🇿

(Well..maybe not literally „unite“ since we already tried that…)

A drum I keep beating. Life expectancy and infant mortality rate should be expressed as two separate numbers but together. 10% of babies born in Afghanistan don’t make it to five. This issue is exacerbated when discussing historical numbers.

So the only two „countries“ with 85-90 year life expectancy are Monoco and Hong Kong?

    7. What’s shocking about the US is that even the most affluent citizens, with full medical insurance, don’t have a reasonable life expectancy. The wealthiest Americans have survival rates on par with the poorest Europeans in western parts of Europe such as Germany, France and the Netherlands (source: [New England Journal of Medicine 2025](https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMsa2408259)).
