      It will keep happening regarding the withdrawals and most importantly, remembered. You don’t need the US anymore Europe. Uou can surpass them and rise above that declining state, as they shot themselves in the foot, again and again.

      Maybe this will light a fire under the ass of European countries to mobilize a little bit more.

      I know it’s a complicated issue but maybe the US abandoning its allies will strike up the band in Europe and get them to prioritize defense budgets to deal with Russias fucking stupid bullshit.

      Good we should start closing their bases in europe or better yet use them ourselves, they can’t be trusted anymore and already have a history of letting allies down. What use is there in having them if we’re not even certain that they will come to our defence at this point they bases are for their own power projection close them all.

      I sort of think that Europe either needs to come together as a superpower, which they basically are as a conglomerate, or to get picked off one by one by Russian or US interference ~ hoping for the whole „come together“ thing, personally.

      Absolutely disastrous course of action for us and our allies. Even with everything that has gone on, I am still shocked that Congress has done nothing to stop NATO from being pushed to the edge like this.

      This development can be viewed as as reset in diplomatic ties, is this move going to change the relations between nato and russia, only time will tell.

      As a Canadian, why? Is this to ‚punish“ those countries? Or is it to bring them home? Maybe to send them somewhere else? I honestly missed something and idk why it’s happened, or why soliders where their anyway..

      Italy here. The US have a huge base next to a very important natural reserve (San Rossore). Would really love to see them fuck off.

      I see this as a good thing. The US won’t be capable to project power as much as they do in EMEA because without NATO and their bases in Europe it’ll become much more expensive. That means conducting stupid operations like the Iran war would be even more unpopular with the American public.

      Another positive effect is for us European, that will likely speed up the creation of a pan-European army or at the very least make us more independent. We also won’t be coerced into buying US weapons in exchange of „protection“ anymore. NATO was good for us during the Cold War; I say it‘ time we replace it with something more European and stronger.

      At this point countries are probably safer without a US presence. Trump is too unhingend, US military in any country is a safety risk.

      The US Navy base in Spain is not closing because has the only facility to reload the vertical launch tubes we use for everything. That’s how we do force projection in that hemisphere.
