Surprised it’s that low honestly. It doesn’t take long on the internet to see how differently female public figures are treated. Add to that how much misinformation and politicisation there is around journalists, it’s not shocking they get this kind of abuse. More shocking that they’re able to put up with it honestly.
And as soon as you think it’s just crank behaviour relegated to the corners of the internet, you’ll get posts like this where people almost make a point to prove that no, these people don’t feel the need to hide anymore.
I don’t get the gender angle.
Every journalist I know gets deluged with completely psychotic nonsense. One guy has a detective assigned to receive his reports every time some psycho threatens him and his „beat“ such as it is isn’t even really controversial. His harassers are just squirrels in the attic insane and have placed him at the centre of a nearly incomprehensible conspiracy theory by virtue of him declining to report on their delusions.
