The Great Lakes are 345 feet above sea level? That’s a lot of lock height.

I’m from Louisiana. I’ve lived my whole life near sea level. Going over the MS River bridges makes my ears pop

I’m surprised by Tennessee and Kentucky.

Give California a 4th color, since its lowest point [Death Valley, elevation 282 ft (86 m) below Sea Level] is lower than Florida’s lowest point (Sea Level).

And California has trees taller than Florida’s highest point/“mountain“.

As far as state low points, do quarries or other dug pits count? There is a open pit quarry in Swampscott, MA (near Boston) only a few miles from the coast that has been mined down to about 140 feet below sea level with enough room to mine down to 300 feet below sea level. Will that become the new lowest point in N. America? Maybe only temporarily though, because once the quarry is abandoned it will fill with water.

Good map, thanks!

[set it to 105](https://www.floodmap.net/). There’s a reason why Memphis gets worse summer temperatures than some places notably further south.

I mean you have to ALSO do states whose lowest point is LOWER than florida’s lowest point.
