It would be political suicide to do this, but that’s never stopped politicians before. Wynne made the same mistake in Ontario and it destroyed her credibility.

Can I ask a really stupid question? If it’s a good enough investment that private investors would put their money in, like guaranteed to make them money, why doesn’t the government just invest its own money and then get the returns?

Yeah, just let the feds sell off any valuable assets they have left. I’m sure it won’t increase airport fees, reduce accountability, and deepen the pocket books of corrupt businessmen. 👌

There won’t be much interest in the smaller ones but YVR has thrived under private ownership and it is routinely ranked among the best in the world. I foresee a mix of public/private.

I think Brookfield would be interested in owning and or managing Canadian airports.
I hope the floor crossers can explain to their constituents how this will somehow benefit them. If they stopped ignoring emails, that is

This one policy would basically see airport fees go up, plus make air travel very unobtainable for a majority. For me, of all the things we’ve seen the last year with federal policy under the carney government, I haft to disagree with this policy. Rather keep the formula we have. Not that there’s anything I could think of to make Canadian owned airports better financially. Any ideas?

I will protest at yvr if this happens. Cause wtf this is not happening. Figure it out Canada.
How can other governments figure it out without selling it private?
