What is this map supposed to be? It looks like you merged Rajasthan with Pakistan?

You mean the places which have massive amounts of fertile land, rivers and have more population than Europe for most of history has more population than Europe.

      I am shocked.

    3. Red region can also feed 100 million more people than Europe, unlike most of the Europe this land is actually fertile

    4. Yeah, kinda sucks doesn’t it?

Why and how are so many people having children anyway?

      Uncontrolled growth is a cancer.

You mean to tell me there’s a lot of people living in one of the cradles of civilization? No way!

      India overall is insane.

China has 4x the population but is similar size to US.

Both China and US is about 3x larger than India, and India now have more people than China.

Granted, Bangladesh is even crazier (area smaller than Portugal…yes Portugal) but have more people than the likes of Russia, Mexico, and Japan.

How many of them are trying to get into college or grad school in Europe?

Bonus points: The same question, but add Canada, ANZ and the US.

The Ganges and Indus Rivers flow through these lands, forming fertile alluvial plains that gave rise to ancient civilizations such as the Harappan and powerful empires like the Gupta. So yeah, people started to settle over few thousands of years on these areas.

      Practical & Geographic Reasons
Fertile Alluvial Soil: The plain was formed by the deposition of silt from the Indus, Ganges, and Brahmaputra river systems. This creates some of the most fertile „alluvial“ soil on Earth, allowing for intensive, year-round farming.
Perennial Water Supply: Fed by melting glaciers from the Himalayas, these rivers flow year-round. This consistent water supply, combined with seasonal monsoons, enables multiple crop cycles (like rice in the wet east and wheat in the drier west) that can sustain vast numbers of people.
Flat Terrain: The extremely level landscape makes it easy and cost-effective to build massive urban centers, irrigation canals, and extensive road and rail networks, facilitating high-density living.

      Civilizational & Historical Reasons
Cradle of Civilization: This region was the birthplace of some of the world’s earliest complex societies, including the Indus Valley Civilization. Thousands of years of continuous urban settlement have led to a deeply rooted and naturally growing population base.
Political & Economic Center: Historically, the Indo-Gangetic Plain has been the heart of major empires like the Maurya, Gupta, and Mughal. These empires built their capitals here due to the agricultural surplus, turning the region into a global center of trade, culture, and power for centuries.
Cultural & Spiritual Significance: As the birthplace of religions like Hinduism and Buddhism, the region contains many of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities, such as Varanasi, which have attracted migrants and pilgrims for millennia

Wait for another generation and the population will likely be doubled

    13. „All regions having 100 million more people than the entire Europe are on a straight line.“

    14. Europe? You mean Western Eurasia? Europe is pretty small and harsh climate that encouraged isolation Orlando frequent wars over resources. The fact that Europe was able to achieve a population of a billion is impressive

    15. Transportiye on

Europe provided way more innovations than this region, quantity of people is irrelevant, quality matters.
