    2. In south asia people used bulls for transportation instead of horses. Horses were limited for nobles and militaries.
      The main reason was bulls performed better for the weather and terrain of the region. Plus cheaper to maintain.

      I’m surprised Nigeria is so high. It’s solidly in the tsetse range and that’s pretty fatal to horses.

      I am surprised about iraq. There really are very very few horses there – and I’d been all around the countryside.

      Belgium has ~50 horses per 1000 inhabitants. I don’t know how accurate the data collection of this source was

      Ireland had a registered horse population of 180,000, that’s 3.5 horses per 100. I wonder how wrong the rest are.
