      Context:

      Lieutenant Mahmoud Haqiqat, a deputy police chief and former Iranian intelligence officer was assassinated by gunmen on Jan 2026. The separatist militant group **Jaysh al-Adl** claimed responsibility, calling it “payback” b/c Haqiqat was known for his role in anti-insurgency operations against the organization.
