This war in Iran needs to fucking ***end***. It’s fucking over many people’s lives, and its only exacerbating our affordability issues.
Is Trump keen on *ruining* the entire world or something? Because that is exactly what he is doing by refusing to lift the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz and it needs to be lifted so the Strait can be fully reopened. These gas prices are literally *insane*.
I was wondering: How feasible is electrification of trucking traffic these days? If you look at the eastern corridor from Toronto to Quebec, isn’t that something where electric trucks are already good enough?
The problem isn’t fuel prices, it’s our reliance on the automobile. Truckers like this should be able to afford fuel, because it keeps the country moving. People living in cities shouldn’t all be driving individual vehicles to work. Every car, with one person in it… so inefficient. Work-from-home should be encouraged at all levels, and public transit should be the de-facto people mover in urban areas when you can’t bike or walk.
What I don’t understand is why we have long haul truckers going to cities at all. All of our municipalities should be connected by freight railroad, and these trucks should only be used for the last mile any way. Only other way they make sense is for shipping to remote or tiny communities.
Height of irony the same people that have spent the last 20 years driving the wages down are now upset that they no longer can afford to work for said wage
Clever marketing move.
Who cares. Fuck this country.
Like, don’t they charge fuel surcharge?
Or were they driving on a fixed rate that doesnt take fuel fluctuations into account / bidding eachother into the ground?
This just seems like inability to run a business to me, because I see hundreds of people doing it just fine.
Weird that they can’t afford fuel, since every single logistics vendor has raised their prices by more than the increase in the cost of fuel.
This is like the grocery closing down because ‚it can’t afford to buy food‘.
Somehow, I doubt that’s all that’s going on.
Damn where’s the convoy for this?
