      Extract from the AP article:

“California regulators apologized to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk this week as they settled a lawsuit that claimed a state agency showed political bias against the rocket company and its chief executive.

As part of the settlement, the California Coastal Commission acknowledged its members made “improper” statements about Musk’s political beliefs at a 2024 hearing on SpaceX’s Falcon 9 launch program.”

Politics is best left out of space flight

      Hopefully someone will remind Elon

love or hate space x/elon nothing worse than a government with a political ax to grind, before anyone says. muh trump . ok so what? you cant have it both ways. elons views and who he is siding with shouldnt make the government then say „oh we loved you before when you were on our side…..but now you left me for that new blonde chick i hate you and im going to get you fired and burn all your clothes“

Just because you dont like elon doesnt make California good in this case. just think about it. they dont like the ceo’s views, so then they vindictively attack a future trillion-dollar company using the law and regulations as a weapon.

i know this is reddit but the court was right in this case.

So elon also gets to show political bias literally every day of his life but suddenly other people have to apologize to him for doing the same?

    5. The CCC operates to enforce, at the state level, the Federal Coastal Zone Management Act.  (By design; the CZMA relies on state enforcement)

The CCC went well beyond the stipulations of the CZMA and got their hands slapped.

Like, or not like, Elon, this was government overreach by the CCC and I hope this reins them in a bit.

Elon musk is a world class piece of shit.

It makes me mad that he’s right here.

    7. It’s wild how many people in this thread think that government employees should be allowed to inject their personal bias and beliefs into decisions and statements they make on behalf of the government.

Did they say anything that wasn’t true? Just seems like a rich man forcing an apology by using his money as leverage over a governing body.

People acting like these statement are some huge political overreach when it’s someone factually describing musks political activity, and attempts to use his political connections to avoid permitting and other regulations required by California. Musk is still a shit heel for trying to avoid the permits and regulations required by everyone operating in that environment, and they only got slapped down because they called him out for using his political power against them.

      > Chair Caryl Hart: „We’re dealing with a company…the head of which has aggressively injected himself into the Presidential race and made it clear what his point of view is.“ and „***It is essential that SpaceX apply for a [Coastal Development Permit].*** We’re going to hit a wall here.“

Ie, spaceX doesn’t want to follow the rules everyone else has to because he’s best friends with the president.

      > Commissioner Gretchen Newsom: „Elon Musk…hopping about the country, spewing and tweeting political falsehoods, and attacking FEMA while claiming his desire to help the hurricane victims with free Starlink access to the internet.“

      > Commissioner Mike Wilson: „This company [SpaceX] is owned by the richest person in the world [Elon Musk] with direct control of what could be the most expansive communications system in the planet. Just last week that person was talking about political retribution.“

    10. Once again the rich and powerful get off scot free and the only government agency actually trying to do its job was shot down.
