  1. Before anyone gets upset: Having somewhat of a control about what information is being broadcasted to your populous can decide over the existence or failure of your nation. If every foreign power can just spread uncontrolled misinformation to sow public discord in your country, you lost. This isn’t a matter of free speech or limiting it, but about being able to counter one of the most commonly used types of hybrid warfare in the 21st century

  2. Wasn’t she supposed to work on lowering the consumption tax rate as her big priority after winning the election? How come one does not hear much about this matter anymore but everything about spies and foreigners?

  3. Now anyone that has a counter opinion will be labeled as a Russian, Chinese, North Korean, Vietnamese, Singaporean, and other foreign disinformation agents.

    And will be tried.

This is to control the people against the Takaichi regime, the ones that know that she uses bots, and paid press releases.

    Great!

I believe it’ll be called the cabinet intelligence service

    Oh yes, fight misinformation.

NHK’s independent journalism is the perfect example of how this government care about fighting misinformation /s

  6. If I had a nickel for every nation that faced economic stagnation and the leader decided the answer was a new security spy/crime apparatus, I’d have Herbert Hoover and Takaichi. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.

  7. In that case, I love the Takaichi administration and how they brag about obliterating the 3 years of planning, saving, networking, and labor I put in to get the BM visa. I just need to “work, work, work” some more!

She should focus on the misinformed ほんね of her own citizens first

    I mean, why not?

The rest of the world does. You aren’t helping yourself by not having one.

I actually get the value of having people not in the spot light that focuses on intelligent gathering and counter other spy networks. I also get the importance of stopping other countries from influencing your country so easily… but isn’t something like a spy organization better not being told it existed?

So… it’s just a propaganda machine that squashes anyone who doubts sanseito’s bs?
