Maybe I’m stupid but how do they know? As far as I know no one is allowed to be in the DMZ. I don’t think scientist group are allowed neither and I think it would take multiple year to be able to reference all those species. Or am I missing something?

If the two Koreas were ever to reunify into one nation, I would love to see the DMZ protected as a nature reserve. I’m unsure of what the logistics of travel between the two distinct zones of (formerly NK and SK in this scenario) would be, but there would surely be a reasonable solution.
