Ok but by studying abroad in the first place they are exercising a financial privilege, not a right.

    Domino effect.
Dont allow foreigners with skills easy path into Japan -> innovation slows, yen weakens -> our own nationals now can barely afford to develop skills abroad -> skilled laborers in Japan lessen (yes I’m aware there are institutions to learn skills in Japan) -> no skilled workers but stubborn Japan won’t import skilled workers -> “Wait why is the birth rate so bad, the economy is bad yeah but…”

Grossly oversimplified but reap what you sow and all that…

Tell your children “No. We cannot afford it.”
Leaving Todai for school in the Netherlands? Crazy.

If the horrible work culture and excessive rules based nonsense is removed only then can the population of Japan grow . Politicians especially from Ldp think that by offering monetary benefits the problem can be solved . They are still not able to see the core issue affecting birth rates

This is what happens when your government drains your people’s savings and labor value to keep the U.S. stock market happy. For reasons.

Idk where this is but I’ve travelled to like 20 countries with different levels of economy, and nowhere is the water bill and laundry the biggest expense or have a good „work to money saved“ ratio.

My son goes to university in Japan and it’s cheaper than what we’d pay in Canada if you include living expenses. He goes to a great school, too.

  10. Dont worry the Japanese yen will go lower with the same government in charge.

  11. Short showers… this is normal in most countries to save on water and electricity bills. Washing clothes by hand or using a hand cranked washer is not unusual if you have no washing machine or laundromat access. Even if you do have a laundromat nearby, they are very expensive.

Japan seems to use water more liberally than other countries (taking a bath daily would break the bank elsewhere!).

Being poor at university is unfortunately normal in most countries. Are students in Japan well fed and housed, because that would be an exception.

EU mentioned in the image, and I can’t read it from the EU. Fun.

I do realize that it’s an enormous financial burden to study abroad, but do shorter showers and washing clothes by hand make that much of a difference? (like I actually don’t know, I can’t see what countries are being reference to look it up)
