      But a no brainier but I’m sure some penny pitcher will prioritise paying the debt

      No issue with the state buying the land, but I suspect the state is the only viable buyer and the €7m guide price was just to make €2m seem like a bargain.

      Buying it just because its for sale is crazy.

      If the state hashm a plan to do something with it them they should buy it, otherwise they should stay out of the speculating business.

      That’s like 16 bike sheds? Which could be rewildened to provide a lasting legacy.

      Absolute no brainer to purchase it, even if the market wouldn’t pay €2m for the mostly unusable land, it’s a bargain for a national park and forest.

      Buy it, remove grazing rights, remove deer pressure and allow the area to rewild whilst integrating this process with local universities and charities to monitor progress.

      Absolutely insane that this is privately owned. This country really sells anything for a buck. This should be confiscated into public ownership, nevermind paying for the privilege. The government needs to jump on this and take hold of it before some vulture sweeps in.

      The government should do what they did when Castletown House came up for sale . Dont buy it when it comes up for auction then pay double for it , two years later .

      This is a classic reason why compulsory purchase is sometimes needed

      You need to advertise it to them differently – get into the same board room where they are talking about paying 35 million to build a giant robot down grand canal dock and get them to reconsider and place it here instead – instant purchase

      I was up it yesterday – hard hike, but desolate and gorgeous at the top, it should be state land and free for all to access
