Mmmmmm, exspensive, I suppose this is the first mig31 that has been destroyed, right?

Again I wonder, why go for the landing ships.
I’ve noticed quite a few times now that landing ships and ferry’s have been destroyed.
    Possible explanations:
    1. Target of opportunity, a landing ship is less protected than a missile cruiser and thusly easier to hit. Hence being hit slightly more often than a missile cruiser.
    2. Part of a campaign, in my opinion the more likely as Ukraine has been extremely good at shaping operations.
Let’s imagine a certain bridge gets blown up.
Let’s imagine a summer offensive cuts the occupied territories in half, maybe a path of 100km all the way to Mariupol.
Then everything south of Mariupol and keimea would be absolutely shut of.
The railway ferry has been sunk for quite some time.
The only way the reinforce occupying forces would be by air (seababy makes this extremely costly) or by landing ship.
And these landing ships seem to be sinking at quite a rate.

But that’s only my armchair optimism.
But I would not be surprised, that would be one large push, but an enormous peace of land liberated as no occupying force could hold out.

  3. Seems that the campaign to hit their air defence systems has been paying off more and more.

If those ships are kaput that is many MANY millions down the drain. Lets hope we see some videos of them joining the submarine fleet. On the negative side, their sailor complement is no without vessel and could go fight at the frontlines.

  5. If the S.M.O. is „going according to plan“, that plan must have been to eliminate his own industrial base and ensure widespread poverty for generations.

At what point do we stop calling the Russian Black Sea Fleet a fleet? Flotilla perhaps?

Mig-31 is missing its rear-left landing gear. Hope this wasn’t a decoy.
