Oh right, we’ll „review“ their claims to half a dozen military bases in the UK then.

    2. ImABrickwallAMA on

Bully. That entire country is nothing but a bully until it gets what it wants or goes its way. Disgraceful that we’re even still allies with them at this point.

    3. Maybe we should start considering closing US bases. Probably not the best idea having a now hostile nation present in the country and territories.

    4. TheMostyRoastyToasty on

Who cares what the US thinks? They genuinely think they’re the world police.

In a similar, but not quite as drastic, way as Russia in Ukraine, they’ve been embarrassed by Iran in this recent war. They genuinely think they can steam roll any other country within a day because they have a big military. Iran has shown otherwise. Donald Dump is now constantly flip flopping on deadlines because Iran hasn’t folded.

    5. Salty-Bid1597 on

Ah the new transactional model of international diplomacy.

Perhaps we should review the US claim to Hawaii, or even the 13 colonies, which seem kind of flaky from a legal POV.

All those „forward airbases“ in the UK they have been using constantly for the last couple of months should definitely go.

    6. Agreeable_Falcon1044 on

Afraid it’s time to cut ties. Empty their bases on our soil immediately and refuse to allow them to use any of our airspace, waters or overseas airbases until we get better respect or a change of leadership. A hostile nation that threatens our sovereignty, and threatens our Commonwealth, EU and NATO friends should not be housing troops on our soil

    7. thebigbioss on

Wonder if certain politicans will try and defend this stance, trying to appease Trump. And then claim how patriotic they are.

    8. Pale_Goose_918 on

Would be hugely counterproductive. Argentina could barely get a ferry there these days and it will just make Starmer or whoever comes after more popular when they say we’ll be keeping them.

    9. UK ‘considers reviewing US claims of independence’ over bullying the world.

    10. reassessing Washington’s support for Europe’s „imperial possessions“ – does that include the Chagos Islands? They’ll have no objections now if we hand them over to Mauritius, including Diego Garcia?

    11. This should be a warning to our military minds that we need to stop being reliant on them. We need to start being self-sufficient. Also need to start coming up with a plan to decouple our nuclear deterrent from them.

    12. WastelandOfConfusion on

Meanwhile, we’re integrating our critical organisations like the NHS ever deeper into American tech products like Windows Hello and all their schitty ‘Cloud’ products.

    13. tylerthe-theatre on

US genuinely being run by homelander, but an even more pathetic irl version

    14. MuddlinThrough on

You mean the islands which the US, as our NATO ally, did not help us defend when we went to war over them?

      Yes, this logic is excellent

    15. Gullible_fool_99 on

Fuck the USA from now on. If one president can be this bloody awful a future president can be as well. No longer a trustworthy ally. Onward with the United States of Europe.

    16. Brilliant_Version344 on

All because we didn’t follow them into a bs war like we did with Iraq pathetic

    17. Guess which British territory recently agreed to start offshore oil drilling…

    18. Cynical_Classicist on

I remember how the press was grinning over what a friend Trump was to Britain.

    19. BenathonWrigley on

Trying to pressure us to join their Iran war. So transparent. Trump literally plays the same card every single time to try and exert pressure.

They will be ‘reviewing’ Canada and Greenland next week.

    20. Dayzed-n-Confuzed on

At this point the US is now just the strange kid in the corner, who picks fights with people at random, shouts out vague threats at people as they walk past, and smells vaguely of dope and piss!

    21. It is long past the point where we need to start seriously reviewing this so called alliance, including US access to UK territories and bases.

This is not a reasonable government, it’s not an ally or friend, it’s a mafia ring that works on extortion. NATO is something they see as a protection racket, not a defensive alliance.

At least we are starting to see the special relationship for what it really is. They may have a sensible government in a few years, hopefully by then we have a serious professional relationship.. not a special one, aka vassalage.

Oh, he’s also talking extra tarrifs because of the digital services tax. If that happens, increase the tax to what it was meant to be and subsidise any company affected by tarrifs with the increased revenue. We can’t keep appeasing them forever, it’s not working.

    22. Sea-Payment-8989 on

And all because their leader loves oil and wants free access to Argentina‘s abundant resources.

    23. culture_vulture_1961 on

This is transparent trolling by the US government. Starmer won’t rise to it. British people will though. I would not want to be one of the thousands of Americans wandering around London this summer.

    24. MichaelBealesBurner on

Since I turned 18 all I had to do worry about is orange cunt affecting the world. 10 years of this shit and at least 2 more left

I will pop open the champagne bottle when he’s fucking dead

    25. Gentle_Snail on

Unless the people of the islands change their mind the matters settled. They are the only peolle who get a say.

    26. Hey can review it as much as they want, its nothing to do with them and they dont have any power to do anything about it either. So jog off

    27. Nothing to review, Argentina never owned it and the people voted on who should own it, so doesn’t make any difference what the orange baby thinks

    28. The only people that have any say in the governance of the Falklands are the people (and sheep) that live there

    29. Going against the stated and held-held opinions of the people who live in the Falklands would certainly be imperialism.

Not that it’s anything to do with the US, and I doubt Trump could point to the Falklands on a map.

    30. I think the PM needs to grow a pair and start the process of closing US bases on UK soil and preventing them from operating from our installations.

At best the US is now an unreliable ally with Mango Mussolini in the White House. Nobody has the balls to tell him no and because he acts like a child, the only way to get through to him is with actions.

Close their UK bases and forbid them from using UK owned infrastructure and services. They should be a global pariah because of Trump and his actions but they aren’t.

Moreover, the Falklands are a UK territory and the locals have made it clear they want it to remain that way.

    31. CariadocThorne on

The way things are going, countries who have previously stayed neutral on the subject or even supported Argentina’s claim are going to be fully behind the UK on this just to spite Trump.

Argentina may not thank him for this in the long run.

    32. Entire-Emotion-819 on

And what the fuck has it got to do with them?

Pisses me off that Trump really does feel like he runs the world, you don’t, you lump of overdone pork!!

    33. staminaplusone on

A relationship based on the president taking exactly what he wants and casually ignoring all those things that really matter to Britain. We may be a small country, but we’re a great one too.

    34. Well, lets close thier bases and demolish a certain golf course to be used as a wind farm.

    35. Far_Excitement_1875 on

Britain beat Argentina alone anyway and they’ll do it again if they have to.

    36. RgrTehCabinBoy on

These twats will just say anything at this point, even if the US elects the most chill candidate ever in 2028 the damage is already done.

    37. nintendofan2_0 on

Who even gives a fuck. We need to be closer to the EU and other countries over the USA. What pathetic behaviour.

    38. Hol up – the same guys who said don’t give up the Chagos islands, in-fact do, no wait don’t … yeh ok Buddy.

    39. MrMonkeyman79 on

Cool, I don’t recall us asking or needing their permission to own those islands.

    40. Damn. Guess us brits have to burn down the white house again.

Jesus fucking christ, MAGA. Sort out your senile grandad.

    41. HumanBeing7396 on

There is no ‘claim’ – there is only the right to self-determination, which the islanders have exercised by voting to be British.
