    >House Republicans faced mounting anger on Thursday after proposing hundreds of millions of dollars in cuts to a program that provides food aid to millions of vulnerable women and children across the United States.

    >The cuts were proposed in an appropriations bill to fund the US Department of Agriculture and other federal agencies. The Republican legislation would cut $200 million from the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) in the coming fiscal year at a time when families nationwide are struggling to afford groceries.

    >The GOP bill would cut by $141 million a WIC benefit that helps provide fruit and vegetables to toddlers, preschoolers, and pregnant and postpartum women. Around 5.4 million people would lose fruit and vegetable benefits under the Republican bill, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP).

    >“There is no doubt that this appropriations bill would only deepen America’s hunger crisis,” Crystal FitzSimons, president of the Food Research & Action Center, said in a statement. “Families are already struggling in the face of rising grocery prices and would be forced to stretch tight budgets even further. In turn, they would be forced to make difficult choices such as paying for food, housing, or other basic needs.”

The House GOP’s proposed cuts would compound the ongoing damage inflicted by the unprecedented $200 billion in cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that congressional Republicans and President Donald Trump approved last summer.

    >CBPP noted in an analysis released Wednesday “that SNAP participation nationwide fell by 2.5 million people (6%) between the law’s July 2025 enactment and December of that year, the latest month of data from the US Department of Agriculture.”

    >“The declines started before HR 1’s enactment, suggesting factors at play in addition to that law,” the think tank observed. “But in many states they accelerated after HR 1, and we expect that trend to continue.”

How many of them voted for the people who are removing food from them? This is their fault, but unable to learn and will repeat this every time they vote. I wonder how many down votes this post will receive because of the truth. Republicans win many of the states that have had bills to remove food allowed for SNAP. they have realized they should have waited till after the elections to take food from their maga supporters.

  3. Ho Hum, in 2024 the lowly Americans had a choice to make and they made it. ask me, „Let them eat cake.“

Make bombs not food. Isn’t that how it goes?

What a shit show! Good job GOP, you really know how to take care of Americans…

There are so many screaming Christians in this administration and they have all branded Trump as Jesus 2.0 so this clearly aligns with Christs teachings and he absolutely didn’t want to feed the hungry.

  7. Well? What do you expect? We need money to continue funding the military! The federal government can’t concern itself with things like „feeding women and children.“ We have wars to fight!

The monthly funds for fruits and veggies for women – pregnant, breastfeeding – will go from fifty four dollars a month to thirteen.

    THIRTEEN. For the month.

Thirteen bucks doesn’t buy you shit.

It’s ten bucks for kids. Here little Timmy, enjoy your single orange slice today, and your half a stick of celery every other day.

I’m beyond pissed off. Things were already pissing me off when I saw training materials edited because gender is no longer a protected class. I was more pissed off when myplate.gov was completely revamped with almost all the useful resources removed and replaced with a useless scrolling-into-infinity page with no useful information. (Check out the archived version and go look at the current one and see how bad it is.)

Now? Now I’m ready to bite concrete and spit gravel at these fuckers pushing this.

    >The Republican legislation would cut **$200 million** from the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) in the coming fiscal year

The US spends $200 million **literally every 10 hours** on the Iran war.

    It’s *literally* the ideology.

    [Conservatism](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/conservatism):

    >a political philosophy based on tradition and social stability, **stressing the importance of established hierarchies and institutions** (such as religion, the family, and **class structure**), and preferring gradual development to abrupt change

    >specifically **:** such a philosophy calling […] for **individual financial responsibility for personal needs**

If people want food security for Americans, they should consider promoting and voting for the *opposing ideology*.

    [Progressivism](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/progressivism):

    >a political philosophy and social reform movement focused on **advancing the public good through government action** and often **calling for government to be used to meet popular social, political, economic, and environmental needs** and demands and to **advance rights and protections for marginalized groups**

Women and children? You mean, according to trump, “low IQ losers and potential targets”

How is this news? They campaigned on this exact point for years now. The entire party is just psychopaths who campaign on harming people and the dregs of our society (who are the greatest harmed by the policies they campaign on) eat it up.

  13. This will hit farmers too. sNAP is designed to help subsidize farming costs

They don’t understand anything. They do this like they do when they are married, treat their wives and kids like baggage, leave and screw their first families.

shit man, nobody cares about women and kids….even most liberal men would rather see us dead .

  16. Good job shooting yourself in the foot, America. You’ll never learn, and you’ll keep backing the GOP.
