  1. From the article:

„He later told reporters there’s ’no sense‘ in antagonizing a partner that Canada is negotiating with, while noting he fully supports Carney’s approach to building Canada.“

„It’s not surprising that the prime minister wants to distract from his costly failures by pushing fear and re-upping his rhetoric yesterday“

  2. Lol, us antagonizing our partner. Great job PP in becoming more unelectable.

  3. I watched that address. I felt hopeful rather than fearful after it was done. Skippy is probably fearful we will correctly figure out he’s irrelevant.

God I’m so sick of him. Just move on buddy.

Or do you not know where to go in life without politics?

  5. Expensive_Plant_9530 on

He’s pushing reality – and spoiler alert, Mr Poilievre – reality is scary right now.

We can either stick our head in the sand, or we can go in with eyes wide open.

I prefer the latter. And so does Carney it seems.

I listened to a good chunk of PM Carney’s video. I didn’t get anything fearful from it.

He’s pragmatic and realistic. Like tell us the truth about what’s going on . That’s actually what I want to see in a PM managing a crisis and situation with the US. Far more hopeful than fearful. PP would like us to live in fear. He was the one saying Canada was broken during the campaign .

Obviously there will be things the government cannot share with us. In terms of the strategy of dealing with the US, I was done with them last year. Will we ever completely move away from trading with the US, probably not. Canada just existing antagonizes the Fanta Fascist. There is no winning or negotiating in good faith with a guy like Trump or any of his sycophants.

It would seem like most nations are just stalling. They’re putting in the appearance and attempts to preserve diplomatic relationships but they’re not banking on US being reasonable anytime soon.

Carney saw first hand when he visited the White House last year. He saw it in the reaction from Trump after Davos.

Carney was voted in because of his ability to manage a crisis during his tenures as Bank of England and Bank of Canada governor. He is calm and kinda boring, which is exactly what Canada wants to see during an existential crisis .

  7. Is it ‚pushing fear‘ when you lay out the plain facts?

If reality makes us scared… then we should be.

  8. Pushing the truth is what the PM is doing, not the lies the conservatives are trying to peddle

  9. Brodney_Alebrand on

Why are the Conservatives so determined to signal their willingness to roll over for the Americans? It’s like they want the USA to punish us.

  10. The quy whose whole schtick is pushing fear outta know! LOL!

Does PP have any awareness of the factors that drive inflation? And does he have any awareness that gov’t policy does not produce quick results? The guy whose whole career has been in politics may not have a clue about inflation, economics and government influence but he should, if nothing else know that government policy rarely, if ever produces quick results.

But hey, baseless criticizing has gotten him this far, so can’t expect any different from him.

  11. Evil_Weevil_Knievel on

What the hell is wrong with Conservatives?? I just don’t get it. What makes them such vitriol filled rages on every domestic issue but whipped dogs when it comes to sticking up for your own country?

  12. So Carney is “pushing fear”? When P47 is the one said he wants to annex Canada?

  13. The US has shown to both be extremely antagonistic to whatever flavor of the week strikes Trump’s mind, and has proven any deal with this administration is worth less than the energy it takes to tweet a reversal of the agreed upon terms.

The US is a volatile mess right now. Nothing this admin does is planned, or sensical, or consistent, or even logical. PP just continues the same negging of Liberal policies without justification or logic he has always been doing, not understanding that the reality is changing and that why he snapped defeat from the jaws of victory in the last election.

Still not reading the room I see.

Last time it lost him the biggest political lead in recent memory.

  15. TheInterwebIsNeat on

Does he ever have anything intelligent to say? He’s the guy in high school everyone wanted to punch but his dad was the richest guy in town.

  16. RunWithDullScissors on

How about address his ridiculous fear mongering at home 😆 fk this guy is a clown

  17. CertainHeart2890 on

If anyone knows anything about „pushing fear“, it would be Poilievre, as is entire leadership style is rage bait

  18. PP is bought by the Republicans eh? He also clearly cannot for the life of him read a room, hence why Ford loathes him. When the not so smart Ford has better intuition than you, you have a problem sir.

  19. And Poilievre pushes all sorts of fear on Canadians too. Remember his ad campaigns during election season?

  20. I feel like Pierre has made himself look so consistently dumb over the last few weeks that Carney and the Liberals aren’t paying much attention now, while everyone else is having a chuckle.

  21. This from the other guy who said our safety and prosperity depends on the US. Can he stop already?

  22. RestlessCreature on

Ah yeah because PP’s whole platform wasn’t based on fear and not being Justin Trudeau. I still have no idea what this guy stands for in his own right and it’s been like 10 years. Those in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

  23. ExaminationForeign75 on

This guy makes a fool of himself almost daily now, remind you anybody?

  24. Canadians love been scared by the government. I don’t see any problems with that

  25. Idiots will always respond to feels. That base isn’t about logic. It’s entirely about feels.

  26. Sea-jay-2772 on

I don t feel carneys address was particularly antagonizing. It makes sense to diversify our trade and international relations as much as possible. Will we ever decouple from the US? Likely not. They are a huge economy right on our doorstep.

But look at what being too reliant has cost us.

  27. So basically what I’m getting from this is if PP won he would have taken *any* deal regardless of how bad it would be for us.
