We heard for 4 years that Joe Biden was not running the country and who was actually in charge and the deep state, etc. But now we have actual proof that Trump is not fit to lead the military by his own people. This happened a lot in his first term too, if you’ll remember.

I think it’s more because he is incompetent and demented but also technically the commander-in-chief. I’d be doing everything possible to remove him from decision making processes too.

Well the lame answer is that they’re trying to follow his orders as best they can and they don’t want him jumping to conclusions and interrupting them every time they say „we can’t do x because y“. Also it makes no sense to keep him out of the situation room when he can’t interfere in an active rescue mission run by others thousands of miles away. He’s the commander in chief, but after 8 years in power he knows he’s not in a position to micromanage things he knows nothing about. How many times do you think he has sat in a situation room simply staring at a screen full of camera feeds praying it all goes to plan?
He orders things to happen, he does not manage how it happens.
