      (From the article): „Aliya Rahman, a Minneapolis resident who was violently detained by ICE officers in January during “Operation Metro Surge,” filed a federal tort claim against the Department of Homeland Security on Thursday, claiming the agency used excessive force and violated her rights. Rahman was never charged with any crime. “They battered Aliya. They assaulted Aliya. They were negligent in their medical care for Aliya,” says Jessica Gingold, one of Rahman’s attorneys. “All of those things are illegal, and this is our tool for making sure that they have to pay for that.”

      Aliya Rahman was on her way to a doctor’s appointment when her route was blocked by ICE vehicles. Rahman’s window was smashed, and she was violently pulled out of her car. She told the officers she is disabled and autistic, but says they mocked her. Rahman was brought to an ICE jail, where she was denied medical care. She eventually fell unconscious and woke up at a hospital. “My hope is that Americans can see that we have an option that might someday make mass acts of racial violence seem too expensive for these folks, even if they don’t share our values,” says Rahman.“

      Trump is setting up a two-tier legal system, in which groups of people targeted by Trump are denied access to the legal system used by the rest of the country. This is a common ploy of authoritarians – because resistance to these attacks on the rule of law is weaker when these changes do not apply to everyone. It is much easier to pretend ‚this is fine‘ when you yourself are not a member of one of the groups being attacked. Those being attacked are primarily those who ‚look foreign‘ (AKA – non-whites), or those who openly protest against the ICE invaders.

      While some people are under attack and their cities are occupied by an invading army of ICE Agents – others are largely untouched, unaware of what is going on, or unconcerned by it, as they don’t believe ‚they are next‘.

      Sadly, some even rationalize this on going destruction of democracy and the rule of law – they support it, because they approve of ‚White Nationalism‘. As one supporter put it to me:

      >I believe what Trump is doing is trying to terrorise immigrants who are currently here so that they will self deport en masse. Otherwise this country has no hopes of ever going back to being a white country run by whites in a freedom loving manner.

      Notice that they are full well aware that this is a terror campaign – and yet they support it anyway.

      ICE are become ever more brazen in an attempt to spark violent resistance which Trump can use to justify declaring an insurrection and then using the U.S. military to occupy areas of the country that do not support Trump.

      If you fail to defend other people’s rights – that is how you lose your own.

      I believe this is the woman who already had a brain issue. She testified to congress about her experience being beaten by ICE simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. It’s a crazy story

      it’s actually terrifying that ice agents can just smash a disabled US citizen’s car window on her way to the doctor and face zero immediate consequences. i really hope she takes dhs for every single penny tbh.

      The craziest part is that after they violently dragged an autistic woman out of her car, DHS literally tried to release a statement framing her as a „violent agitator.“ „operation metro surge“ was basically just a federally funded goon squad terrorizing minneapolis residents. the cruelty is entirely the point.
