    Honestly I just stopped reading there – if somebody is delusional enough to believe that, their analysis is meaningless to me. I mean we’ve spent most of those 2 decades arming the apartheid state of Israel, that is in itself a big disqualifier. The article should instead say that Carney has dropped Trudeau’s pretense of caring about things like human rights and the environment.

    So where are we on Ukraine now? The uncomfortable truth here is that a realpolitik Canadian foreign policy would be one that prioritizes a good (or at least better than what we have right now) relationship with Russia over Ukrainian concerns for their sovereignty or territorial integrity. I don’t see that happening anytime soon, so I have a hard time buying this author’s argument.

  3. Trying to establish economic ties with new partners after the US started a trade war isn’t exactly realpolitik.

    His speech at Davos was basically a call for liberal internationalism
