  1. If the area comparison was with Alaska, only Sakha Republic, Western Australia, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Greenland, Nunavut and Queensland would be highlighted.

First: you’ve erroneously characterized English counties as „1st level“ UK subdivisions.

Second: I had no idea that English counties (2nd level subdividision) were so densely populated.

EDIT: Apologies, you’re considering England a subdivision. But for some reason included county division lines in the map.

  3. Are there any subdivisions that are both bigger than Texas and more populous than California?

You’re counting all of Greenland as one, right? Because I’m 99% sure that Nuuk is smaller than Texas, lol.

Wow, all those counties in England… They have something going over there

  6. Screw first level subdivisions, how about State electoral divisions?:

„At its maximum size before 2010, the Division of Kalgoorlie was roughly 2.295 million km² (approx. 886,000 mi²), making it over three times larger than Texas (approx. 695,662km² or 268,597 mi²).“ – Wikipedia

  7. California has about 39.5 million inhabitants. How is it that every first level subdivision of England has more, when the entire UK only has about 70 million? Or do you just mean “all of England” as a first level subdivision of the UK?
