This will go down in history: Russia’s Black Sea Fleet was defeated by a country that does not even have a Navy.

Ukraine ability to neutralize the Black Sea Fleet was one of the things that truly meant the Russians would struggle to make progress in Ukraine. I am sure that the Russians would have loved to sail ships at whim from Sevastopol and launch things from the Black Sea into Ukraine.

This is the height of irony. One of the main reasons Russia started this conflict was to secure Crimea as an access point to the Black Sea and naval supremacy. Now their navy is in tatters, their reputation as a naval power erased and any prospects of Black Sea domination gone.

Great article. Made me realise how early in the war much of the action was. And how far away from Ukraine the action is now.
