    Yes, the simple fact is that politicians should never be left in charge of their own election rules. We need independent bodies to take over. Whether it’s drawing electoral boundaries or deciding on electoral reform, politicians have way too much skin in the game to be calling the shots. 

    It is worth pointing out that even though this position is rather obvious (at least from the voter’s’ perspective) the only organization I’ve ever heard advocating it is the longest ballot committee which is affiliated with the satirical Rhino party.

    There’s simply no explanation of their actions except that they want to rig the boundaries. Literally nothing else even remotely attempts to explain what they’re doing.

    Meanwhile, conservatives online are justifying it with lies, claiming that Pierre Poilievre’s riding was gerrymandered, and that’s why he lost Carleton.

    This is the state of conservative politics now — their politicians do horrible things in office, then their acolytes online try to normalize it by peddling disinformation.
