      Canada needs to further distance themselves economically and politically from the US. Canada needs to sue the US government for breach of contract.

      To let a fool run the US Government by the Republican Top Leadership and federal legislators is stupid in every aspect for all International Dealings not only with Canada but every other Sovereign Nation in the world.

      Trump and associated above supporting Republican Leadership need to be sued for billions of dollars by the ICC and every other useful court including those in Canada. Only Rand Paul I believe need to be excluded from these lawsuits which must involve Sovereign Rights of Nations (Canadian issue).

      Entirely correct.

      Fundamentally, our closeness to the United States is a geostrategic weakness, because we grew to rely on it as a crutch instead of as a bonus to our competitiveness. For decades, our businesses chose the easy way out – exporting raw materials and components to the US, over developing global markets. Our government avoided the costs associated with bolstering our national security, letting our military atrophy and grow so dependent on American equipment that it is functionally an extension of the US military. And we never built the relationships we would need if the US ever turned on us, as it now has.

      I’m glad someone in the government realizes we can never go back. While decoupling from the US will be slow, it is a matter of national survival. The US is the single biggest threat to our independent existence, and will remain so regardless of Republicans or Democrats in the White House. Wherever we can, we must decouple. Wherever we cannot, we must de-risk and diversify so we are never tied to the US as we once were.

      We need to merge with the United States and negotiate a deal that would protect french and healthcare within our territories.

      This country is just going down the shitter , we’d be better off as a territory. We’d at least have mobility rights to 50 states as US citizens.

      I’m not attached enough to the meaningless British crown to see the value in a separate country in 2026. We aren’t living in 1950
