  1. The GOP’s radical and bigoted ideology is almost identical to that of the Iranian regime. Part of why I still find it weird that the GOP hates Iran so much. They have *so much* in common.

  2. ***“Doctor leaves State to protect their child from hate.“***

The MAGA hate will literally kill them.

    Good.

  3. >The parents of a young trans woman in Idaho say that they’re leaving their state after it passed a law to criminalize trans people who use the restroom.

    >“Obviously, this law is a disaster for families like ours,” Michael Devitt, the father of 20-year-old Eve, wrote in a letter notifying his patients that his physical therapy practice would be shutting down. “We can no longer take a road trip across our beloved state, or even enjoy a family night out at a restaurant, or a movie, without running the risk of Eve being charged and sent to a prison merely for using the facilities.”

    >The law he’s referring to is H.B. 752, which Gov. Brad Little (R) signed into law on March 31, the Trans Day of Visibility. The hostile law makes it a criminal offense for trans people to use the restroom that aligns with their gender identity, even in private businesses. Multiple offenses could get a trans person life in prison.

    >Eve Devitt, who is attending college in New York, testified against a different transphobic bill several years ago.

    >“Since I started estrogen almost three whole years ago, my mental health has gotten significantly better,” [she told the Idaho House Judiciary, Rules, and Administration committee in 2023](https://idahocapitalsun.com/2023/02/07/idaho-panel-approves-a-bill-that-would-make-medical-care-for-trans-youth-a-felony/). “I’ve been able to get myself off of a cliff that I wasn’t sure if I would ever find myself off of. I feel so much better and more complete with myself.”

    >But today the Devitts say they’ve had enough, comparing their state to an abusive partner.

    >“We say ‘We’re in an abusive relationship with the state of Idaho’ — all people with transgender relatives, or all transgender people. And you always think, ‘Oh, they’ll stop hitting me.’ But they’re not gonna,” [Michael Devitt told the *Idaho Capital-Sun*](https://idahocapitalsun.com/2026/04/16/for-a-boise-family-of-medical-providers-idaho-criminal-trans-bathroom-ban-was-the-last-straw/). He said that H.B. 752’s penalties for multiple offenses are more than the prison sentence someone in the state could get for manslaughter.

    >“I mean, there are all kinds of things you can do in Idaho that will get you prison time that are less than the second offense for using the bathroom that aligns with your gender identity.”

Christian nationalists will see this and cheer, because they hate science, doctors, facts, logic, and anything that points out the contradictions in their religion.

Christian nationalists when faced with cognitive dissonance love to lash out and kill the nonbelievers, because they would rather kill all the infidels off than actually try to grow in understanding. They view doubt and deconstruction as dirty words, because they think that means becoming (gasp) apostate. So, they instead of trying to grow through doubt and questioning choose to commit Spanish Inquisitions on the rest of the world.

What’s the difference between the GOP & The Taliban? Nothing. They’re both theocratic fascists of the same coin.

The restroom law is so stupid that if you urinate in public you literally get less than half the ‚punishment‘ for that.

  5. Republicans are literally everything wrong with humanity. They sold their souls to the southern strategy and the idea of greed.

So pathetic and weak. They themselves are everything they pretend fear.

  6. AnonymousInMI on

I’d prefer going to the bathroom with a trans than an in the closet Republican who hates himself.

  7. Some absolute fecal stain of a human being with barely two brain cells to rub together is reading this article (headline) and celebrating right now

  8. Frustratedtx on

Statistically it’s FAR more likely a Republican assaults you in a bathroom than a transgender person. We should start passing laws banning them from using facilities for public safety.

From Democracy Now’s interview with Propublica journalist who reported on Ziklag, the secret Christian Conservative group with a seven mountain mandate where membership costs $25 million:

**AMY GOODMAN:** In a Ziklag member briefing video that you obtained at ProPublica, one of Ziklag’s spiritual advisers, Lance Wallnau, a Christian evangelist and influencer, laid out a plan to deliver swing states by using an anti-transgender message to motivate conservative voters who are exhausted with Trump.

This is a state that has lost a fuckton of OBGYNs to anti-abortion laws right?

I did a report on Idaho in 2nd grade. I’ve never been but I ‚very re-used it several times with updates. This state was always problematic but it has just gotten worse over time. Especially as the farm money has come in. When the groundwater is exhausted & the agriculture fails it will be…something.

    We’ll see Idaho. 😈

  13. Maybe Idaho deserves to have the restroom markers pulled off their bathrooms as a form of civil disobedience?

  14. For such a beautiful state, Idaho has some damn ugly inhabitants.

If I was a business in Idaho, I would put in gender neutral bathrooms. Either, **everyone or no one** could use them because their birth certificate doesn’t match the gender of the bathroom.

I wonder if these states are thinking of the consequences of losing residents? Tax dollars will go down, corporations will likely buy these houses, job creation loss, work force losses… etc. The states who remain open and welcoming will see a boom as a result

  16. PsychologicalSir8508 on

I won’t ever vacation there again or spend any money related to any endeavor involving Idaho or its citizens. I will not support a state that treats people, any person…. Like this.

Yet another reminder that Republicans are all human garbage. Every single one.

Could supportive businesses just change all their restroom signage to gender neutral? Or is there a requirement to have gendered restrooms? I suppose there probably aren’t a lot of businesses that want to help… such a fucked up situation

It truly doesn’t seem like real life that we could be in 2026, in one of the richest countries on Earth, and still have so much backward knuckle-dragging halfwits making life miserable for everyone around them.

The lawsuits against this cruelty will hopefully help the single most at-risk minority recover and survive, in time.

Horrific this family felt they had to do this, *even worse* this is still comparably a sweet story because this young woman’s family support her enough to move to protect her… very r/OrphanCrushingMachine if you ask me.

  22. Bobbyjackbj on

How do they even expect to enforce something like that? Are they going to ask every single person walking into a public restroom to show their genitals?
All of this shit just to avoid dealing with actual issues…

I’m Canadian. I’ve emailed my MP (Member of Parliament – similar to a House rep) to suggest that we implement a special refugee visa for LGBTQ+ people needing to flee the madness, the persecution and the bigotry, in the US.

Postibg this to encourage my fellow Canucks to do the same. 🇨🇦
