I’m not going to judge because you need to run for cover first before you can help others. It was an ambush. Taking a bullet for someone or trying to drag them to safety will just get you both killed.
Especially when the bad guy has a beat on you, you’re not sure where the shooting is coming from, and you haven’t even got a chance to draw your weapon.
They did nothing wrong. Its not like they were sitting around for hours thinking what should they do.
It’s simple. They don’t always have weapons with them. How can you help with the pepper spray against a rifle?
Yeah? That’s standard procedure?
They didn’t know the situation, how many shooters there were, where they were, what the targets were etc. not to mention that these were street cops, not SWAT or specialists or whatever.
You always fall back and take stock of the situation before formulating a plan. If they had run in blindly, the odds of increased casualties, including themselves, just increases
How well trained are Ukrainian Police for these types of situations? Is this purely cowardice? If they haven’t trained for it, I can’t blame them. Everyone thinks they are Christian Craighead until the bullets start flying. You need to be well trained to overcome your natural reaction, and for some, that is to run.
Edit: i’m literally saying individuals have either a fight or flight response. Obviously fire these cunts. I’m not saying i think its good that they ran. They reacted, not in a heroic way, something they will probably feel shame for the rest of their lives (rightly?). If Ukranian police aren’t well trained, they NEED to be. I’m ex British military. I can kind of relate to the situation, but we were trained. Most people dont know if they have a fight or flight response until their life is suddenly in danger like this. Everyone downvoting would probably run. Sorry to say it. Keep the downvotes coming. 😊
Shots being fired, the cops running for cover to allow them to assess the situation is totally normal behavior. What is the option? Do it like American cops and just start blasting into the general direction hitting innocent bystanders?
If the cops climbed into their car and just drove away it would be different

Why the fuck would you not run? Call for help, reposition and be able to both evacuate and provide support until the appropriate armed response arrives.

What a stupid post. Easy to post this when you aren’t the one in the situation. Why would or should you take a bullet for someone else? No offence to that little girl, I pray she’s safe, but I’d only EVER take a bullet for my loved ones. Never a stranger.
If you truly have a problem, be mad at the attackers. Don’t blame innocent officers who reacted to a situation the same way almost anyone else would have
I would have expected that someone in a war torn country realizes that dead men can’t protect anyone.
This isn’t some action movie, people don’t or shouldn’t just jump into the chaos guns blazing and if they did maybe it works out, maybe they die instead of someone else, maybe they kill a few others on the way to handle the threat and then you’d be complaining the other way, why did they jump into action without thinking?!
It’s a tragedy and if you are looking for humans to blame I guess you’ll find someone. The blame is the terrorist not some nearby cops though. Please think with the mind not with the heart.
