When was the map made? It’s changed since then… but it’s always changing

  2. Imagine being the guy who named Cape disappointment „what should we call this place?“ „eh, let’s be real“

  3. It’s one of the most active (dangerous) bar crossings in the world. The pilots should have a tv series. The south jetty has a couple nice surf breaks

I went there just to see it and stumbled upon an incredible wetland and found some incredibly cool shells and stuff. Neat place. Very intense looking water.

  5. I never realized before how much the river narrows at the mouth. Its exceptionally turbulent current makes much more sense now.

  6. This treacherous entrance is why Portland never became a major port city the way easier to navigate to Seattle, SF/OAK, LA/LB & San Diego became.

Spent countless hours on the south jetty with my spotting scope looking for pelagic birds. Fort Stevens State Park! Gorgeous
