Yeah i think this study is deeply flawed. The researchers and the participants are getting wildly different versions of the news stories of the events the studies are intended to measure. Cognitive dissonance is simply not required if your trusted news outlet is feeding you a version of the story where trump is the hero for the actions on Jan 6th etc.
