  1. >To speed up the process, Washington is increasingly sending deportees to countries where they have no connections. Shannon Airport in Co Clare is frequently used as a refuelling stop by aircraft involved in these operations

    >The Department of Foreign Affairs in Ireland has been asked for comment.

    >Separately, the US is continuing to use Shannon Airport to facilitate its deportation operations.

    >On Thursday a small US aircraft operated by Journey Air and leased to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) landed in Shannon to refuel while deporting migrants to Nairobi in Kenya.

    >It is due to stop in Shannon again on Saturday afternoon on the return leg.

  2. Them the risks when you overstay, If he is being returned to Ireland I hope there is a support network for him

  3. He was illegal and chose to go to Costa Rica instead of taking a flight home.

I hope this is enough for Ireland to cut ties with ICE and the US military. That poor Irishman. I hope he can get home. It’s a civil offense in the US and they’re treating people like mass murderers.

Very little in the way of context as to why he’s being deported.

Having said that, if you were going to be deported to a third country you could do a lot worse than Costa Rica.
