Yup, living alone, no immediate relatives or friends that can do check-up.

A very sad situation where traditional family connection is frayed as young people move away and older generation stay behind to be forgotten.

And then even some younger people find it difficult to make friend and or find significant other and stay isolated with internet as primary mean of keeping contact outside world and the more they stay isolated, the more they stay alone and lonely. They are called Hikikomori。

Japan is carrying serious time bomb in addition to declining population and growing elderly population.

  2. There needs to be some euthanasia program so old folks can die without suffering for long periods of time. The folks dying alone were probably messed up for a long time. Having a clean, quick exit is better.

  3. Curiously, this accounts for around 1/3 of the bodies “handled by police.”  It’s hard to imagine that many suspicious deaths, so I have to assume that police become involved in a significant number of routine deaths?

Anyone know why the cops seem to be involved in around 1/8 of deaths?
