Kinda harsh considering cannabis is not as harmful as other drugs. Cannabis is marijuana right?

    2. Meanwhile, as long as I don’t leave my country, I can even get on an airplane with weed.

    3. I always find it funny with news like these coming from the countries with the harshest anti-drug laws, which also enforce the death penalty. What are people seriously expecting to happen?

      Singapore needs to fuckin chill

Edit: y’all on board with taking a man’s life over some weed???…tf is wrong with y’all

    5. People can discuss laws and the benefits of weed and decriminalization. What people fail to ever discuss is breaking laws. There are countries that dont allow chewing gum – I will not be breaking laws even if I dont agree with them. Its not a hard concept.

The truth is, the laws have already been laid out.

That man took a risk and he knew it.

How greedy or desperate can you be to peddle drugs in Singapore. Especially Darwinian of them being a Singaporean national of all things.

Singapore is a horrible country. Capital punishment has no place in the 21’st century.

Good. It’s a cancer on society, Singapore recognizes that. The dude broke the law, its not new and surprised him.

Singapore’s neighbors, Indonesia and Malaysia, have similar laws, but the last execution in Indonesia for drug offences was in 2016. In Malaysia they have a moratorium on executions since 2018. So Singapore is outlier even in Southeast Asia.

If you want to kill someone, buy them ticket to Singapore then slip in their luggage weeds, so easy

To counter all the trolls and bots here: capital punishment can never be okay, especially for smuggling marihuana, a drug that does not kill and usually doesn’t fuck up the lives of the users. This is just sad.

No „criminal“ ever does a crime while thinking of the punishment they will get. Because then they wouldn’t do the crime.

Amazing how 60% of redditors are hardcore drug warriors just so long as we’re not talking about the US. When the US is mentioned, the war on drugs is a racist disaster and the people who supported it are monsters.

FWIW I think capital punishment for weed is insane and any place that operates this way is a shithole.

      Ridiculous.

Alcohol is an accepted luxury but marijuana is a death sentence.

Like, how fucked of a country do you have to be to make the United States look good when it comes to Penal laws?

I hope singaporeans are proud of this.

Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore are three places I would gladly see recolonized and their cultural and legal systems purged of indigenous and islamist features. Imperialism -is- sometimes the most humane approach.

Death for weed? Yeah I’m not ever going to Singapore yall can have it! Dangerous drugs I understand harsh rules but weed.

What in the world, the government is saying we don’t value this person kill them. Added to the no go places for me

    17. He’s a Singaporean. He knew the law. He knew what purnishment he would face. All he had to is not import 1kg of cannabis. It’s not that difficult.

I am a Chinese, and I support Singapore’s anti-drug efforts. In China, marijuana is seen as a gateway drug for many drugs.
