A pretty poor take. In less than 40 days the US brought a the largest power in the middle east to its knees both militarily and economically. It appears Iran is no capitulatulating and giving up its nuclear material as well as agreeing to US demands.

From China’s perspective one of their allies has been dramatically weakened and the US has a strong grip around the flow of oil to China. They can shut it off at Hormuz or Venuzula whenever they want. This is not even mentioning the moves the US is making with Malacca with Malaysia.

Regardless of how you feel about Trump, his hand going into negotiations with China is stronger than ever because of all this.

    2. It’s not over, Trump is coming to town with evidence China has been supplying Iran with intel and additional mixed use military equipment—drone parts and rocket propellant. All I can see is more tension and instability China does not need.

The US really shot itself in the foot with this one.

Trump was foolish to be so easily influenced by Netanyahu, who has been waiting a long time for this war.

The irony is that now the US failed to enact regime change, simply replacing it with a younger more radical leadership that will have more incentive in its race to get a nuclear bomb. The US couldn’t even take control of Hormuz with all its naval and air power superiority.

It really shows the limits and decline of US strategic power, which had to ultimately back down to domestic and international pressure. It’s been forced to negotiate with the same Iranian leadership it vowed to annihilate.

When a decaying hegemonic power feels insecure due to a rising power, it will often lash out in irrational ways such as evidenced here.

    4. This headline is incredibly wrong. The US has shown China it can cut off it’s major oil importer overnight with all the negatives for China’s economy and military. Will make china have to rethink Taiwan and force it to diversify it’s energy. China’s currently incredibly vulnerable over Iran

    5. This place is filled to the brim with people who think that because the US didn’t achieve all their goals in Iran it has somehow been a defeat equal to what Japan and Germany suffered in 1945.

Reading the comments, you’d think the US was going to balkanize and Iran is going to get treaty ports in New York.
