Too late. The F-35 has been riddled with problems anyway, on top of the recent BS from the US government. We need to go with another ally and probably make more use of drones over planes.

Why would we allow another country to have a kill switch. Fuck the F35 fuck the USA. Buy the number for what contracts we signed and tell them to pound sand on all the options

Seriously, what is going to be their sales speech?
„We’re going to sell you more planes than you already decided to purchase (30) but there will be delays in the procurement AND very high cost overruns. But hey, it’s the best product in the world… at least in theory!“

Tell em they can get knotted. Who would want to just do maintenance on jets when we could actually build the damn things 100% from scratch.

From a moral perspective in response to their rogue wars, war crimes, and insane destabilization of the world we should be sanctioning the United States as a dangerous rogue terrorist state.
I get we can’t do that from a realpolitik realistic position really with our economies so intertwined.
But the least we can do is not buy their planes.

Canada is going to have 40 of these regardless since we have a contract for them and have paid for them. But any future fighter should be a non US model

Why are they asking the Ottawa and Quebec to invest $200 million in their facility if they’re the ones vying for the sales of the planes? They want the money for planes, they should be investing and not threatening that thousands of jobs could be at stake if not done otherwise.
Last I checked, the Gripen was looking to be manufactured in Quebec if it was chosen. They sound just like that leech Nutlick.
