      Good. Anyone who operates a firearm without personally checking it’s load is ABSOFUCKINLYTELY responsible for what happens down range. That he didn’t see jail for this is absurd and an indictment of our society. Fuck him.

      Criminal charges: beyond a reasonable doubt, consequence of losing is going to jail.

      Civil claim (this one): they have to prove to 51% certainty he’s at fault, and if he loses, he pays a lot of money, but no jail time.

      I bet he settles.
