„Steyer compared his plan to the way law enforcement fought the mob and called the federal agency a “violent extremist group.”

„The most attention-grabbing part of Steyer’s plan, though, is to give the attorney general power to prosecute ICE leadership. His plan cites the concept of “supervisory liability,” in which superior officers and agency leaders are held liable for actions they direct subordinates to do.“

„This body of law empowers the California justice system to criminally prosecute and imprison not just the ICE agents who are committing these crimes, but the leadership directing them to do so,” he said“

We are living in strange times when a perfectly reasonable proposition comes off as something from another planet.

    3. Tom Steyer, are you the superhero we’ve been waiting for? Sure sounds like you might be!

11 R’s broke in TPS for Haitians. Things have started to swing back. Get out. Volunteer. Donate. Talk to friends. Whatever you can do. Run it up in November.

I wonder if the GOP kinda wish they didn’t push Swalwell out of the race? Because now not only is the chances of a Dem lockout lower than before, but the most likely guy to represent the Dems is a class traitor billionaire, who is probably untouchable to the Trump admin.

Now we’re talking. He just jumped to the top of my list. I’ll vote for any politician who holds these Ice fucks accountable.

Hold up, I know he’s a billionaire and all that… but why don’t we let him cook here for a minute.

ICE = Gestapo 2.0! Make America (1930’s) Germany Again! January 6th = Beer Hall Putsch 2.0!

He’s saying all the right things. Just keep in mind Trump did to, just for hateful people.

We cannot allow ourselves to be bait and switched here. If he is voted in, we must make sure he’s held accountable.

    10. I did not expect this from Steyer. And it may actually wrap up the governorship for him. We’ll see, but given he was in second for the Democrats behind Swalwell before this…

    11. Just one quibble. It’s a violent extremist group *and* a militarized police force prosecuting operations as though they’re engaged in a civil war action. They’re an assault force engaged in paramilitary style operations meant to subjugate and pacify a population the federal government considers to be an enemy.

      **Camp Conditions:**

The Trump administration is spending excessive amounts of money on building what can only be described as concentration camps around the country.

The living conditions at these detention centers are sickening and the federal agents who are tasked with running these camps and supervising inmates operate under little to no oversight.

The goal is to keep these inmates detained for indefinite periods of time, subjecting them to brutality and torture, depriving them of human rights and access to basic necessities; including immigration lawyers, so that they are forced to choose between self-deportation or death.

DOZENS of detainees have died in these wretched hell holes. And that’s just what’s been reported.

ICE officials have undercounted deaths by using what’s called the „release before death loophole.“

If a detainee is released immediately before their death, the death is not counted as „in custody.“

Whistleblowers have also sounded the alarm about systemic underreporting of deaths, injuries, and violence.

They’ve spoken up about a lack of oversight at these facilities; about the cruelty and negligence on the part of staff, about seriously flawed investigations into these disturbing events, and about the disgusting and dehumanizing standard of living for detainees.

Previous reviews found that nearly all of these deaths were preventable.

The causes of these deaths are linked to severe medical neglect, delays in emergency care, preventable infectious diseases as a result of overcrowding and foul living conditions, even suicide due to lack of prevention measures.

Some deaths are attributed to preventable accidents and injuries sustained by detainees going intentionally uncared for.

Detention centers also have severe understaffing issues while inspection records are being falsified. Reports are often incomplete, forged or delayed. And of course this all comes with next to no accountability.

In some cases, American citizens have been detained at these facilities and have later protested the abhorrent and abusive conditions that inmates are forced to endure for unknown periods of time.

**“But Trump Is Only Going After ‚The Worst Of The Worst!'“**

Trump, ran on a campaign of going after the „criminals“ and „the worst of the worst.“

His supporters insist this is the case, but it is far from the reality of the situation.

The supreme Court ruled that Kilmar Garcia was unlawfully deported to one of the most dangerous places on earth after an immigration judge expressly forbade his deportation to El Salvador.

Multiple American citizens have been wrongly detained and violently assaulted, even slain at the hands of Trump’s lawless, jack-booted ICE thugs.

Data shows that the number of immigrants with criminal records who have been captured or deported is miniscule compared to the number of immigrants who have been detained with no criminal backgrounds.

ICE agents have erroneously targeted and arrested people based on non-gang affiliated tattoos and clothing.

The Trump administration has made separating families and arresting children an *intentional* policy goal.

Homeland security has deported large numbers of migrants with legal status and/or no criminal records to mega prisons while depriving them of their right to due process.

The Trump administration has been conducting illegal mass raids on job sites, targeting laborers, taxpayers, even veterans.

Masked ICE agents were throwing political dissidents and foreign students into unmarked vehicles.

The Trump administration was withholding visas to foreign students and vetting their social media accounts while demanding that universities spy on foreigners enrolled at their schools.

A report came out revealing how Stephen Miller demanded ICE agents start indiscriminately arresting and detaining anyone vaguely perceived as a foreigner in order to meet an excessive deportation quota.

The Trump administration gave immigration agents permission to stop, question and detain people based on their „apparent ethnicity,“ language or place of work.

ICE continues targeting asylum seekers, green card carriers, visa holders and legal residents.

Trump is mobilizing poorly trained ICE goons to cities around the country where they are escalating violence, violating constitutional norms, suppressing civil rights, and cracking down on protestors.

There have been multiple incidents where federal agents violently arrested elected officials for speaking out during press conferences for DHS.

ICE agents even detained migrants waiting in line at their citizenship ceremony, some who had been working towards their citizenship for decades.

Trump supporters continue to insist that anyone who criticizes these clearly unlawful actions must be a criminal sympathizer.

And if you are a judge or legal authority who has the gall to challenge the unconstitutionality of Trump’s actions, you will be intimidated and removed from power, but not before facing violent threats from MAGA yahoos and perhaps the president himself.

      **Trump’s unlawful „mass deportation agenda**

Polls consistently show that a majority of Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of immigration and ICE’s tactics.

Trump’s „mass deportation“ efforts have done nothing to address the root causes of the „immigration crisis;“ including long standing issues related to incompetent border agents, poorly trained ICE officers, a bloated bureaucracy, a dysfunctional immigration court system, judge and staffing shortages, a broken asylum seeking process, diplomatic barriers with other countries, and among other things, the economic costs associated with his policies.

The Trump administration has been reducing the number of immigration judges/attorneys while pressuring others to deny migrants their citizenship and dismiss their cases when they show up to their court hearings, only to have ICE agents waiting for them outside of court to detain and deport them.

Immigration agents are refusing to comply with court orders to release wrongly detained migrants who end up sitting in jail, sometimes for indefinite periods of time while a judge has already ordered their release.

In some cases, these detainees are transferred to other jails or remote detention centers across the country where they have no access to a lawyer, and places where they are forced to endure inhumane living conditions, not even aware that they’ve been granted release!

Meanwhile, these judges and DOJ/DHS lawyers are being swamped with so many cases that they cannot carry out their duties effectively.

It’s gotten so out of hand that DHS attorneys are making headlines.

You might remember Julie Le, who was an ICE attorney who volunteered to work in Minnesota back in January. Records show that she was given 88 cases to work in less than a month.

During one profile hearing, she told the judge:

      > „Sometimes I wish you would just hold me in contempt, Your Honor, so that I can have a full 24 hours of sleep. I work days and nights just because people are still in there… The system sucks. This job sucks. And I am trying every breath that I have so that I can get you what you need.“

This was in response to the judge demanding to know why ICE agents weren’t complying with court orders to release these detainees.

      Le also stated:

      > „It takes 10 emails to get a release condition to be corrected. It takes two escalations and a threat that I will walk out for that to be corrected.“

She also admitted that she was about to resign before realizing that she was one of few attorneys working for DHS who were trying to prevent people from remaining detained even after a judge had ordered their release.

Le was abruptly fired after making her remarks in court. I guess she got the sleep she wanted.

One major problem with our immigration system has been a lack of judges, attorneys and other staff involved in court cases, interviewing migrants and guiding them through the legal system.

A problem that has only gotten worse because Trump is choosing NOT to address these systemic issues.

Instead, him and his allies who are running immigration enforcement and overseeing the immigration courts have focused almost all of their energy on Trump’s „mass deportations“ and meeting excessive quotas so the White House can brag about numbers rather than fix the inherent problems within our immigration system.

    13. Ok. As a Californian this is 1000% what gets CA voters charged up. Let me be clear: I am not opposed to Steyer. I am also super skeptical about him. Y’all think Newsom is slick? Steyer pings every one of my “slick af” alarms. I can’t get over the fact that I just don’t trust that he’s not blatantly pandering to voters because he’s a gajillionaire and doesn’t need to worry about funding at the end of the day and will say whatever it takes to get elected. And then he’ll just end up like all the other democrats we elect all the time.

      Or god forbid, worse.

Nothing will happen. Nothing will change. Just more establishment bullshit.

I’ve agents owe us every I’ll gotten penny they made. All those expensive vehicles need to be sold, the agency needs to be dismantled and every agent under criminal review and charged as necessary.
But you know the dems are too feckless to act unless it goes as far as waving a sign

    19. They are trumps private army sent to punish democrat states for not voting for him, immigration is the thin veneer he is using to justify his thugs in those places, they all need to be held accountable and ICE needs to be abolished in favor of proper humane immigration reform, not what ice is currently doing, which is chaining people together and shipping them to either foreign countries they have never been to, or cecot, the 24/7 lights on torture prison.

boy did you guys screw up ignoring him like you did. his hobbies are doing things like saving small farms from big ag takeovers and monsanto, expensive but the right thing to do. look at your farmers now, maybe someday you’ll actually research who’s running instead of making it a highschool popularity contest. /s.

    21. Law enforcement will continue to ignore the legislative side of things and help their fellow oppressors. They have ironclad unions backing them and they love to power trip as much as the next micro brain. Let’s get a governor to roll out the national guard with orders to forcibly remove the violent terrorists operating on unconstitutional orders, then shit will start rolling. Local piggies will fall in line and we can take our states back one by one.

A populist billionaire wants to please angry voters? Hmm, why does that sound so familiar?

Dudes, he invested in private prison. He is another Trump who found opportunity in voters who are dumb and angry enough to support leftist version of Trump.
