      >The US Navy’s sea blockade against Iran appears to be doing its job.

Meanwhile, Iran’s blockade against non-Iranian ships leaving the Persian Gulf is doing its job.

„Working“ is one way to phrase things.

It’s „working“ in the sense that the U.S. military is capable of blockading the Strait for ships that departed from Iranian ports. (We’d better be able to do that given how much we spend on the military-industrial complex.)

But it definitely ain’t „working“ in terms of solving the shitshow we find ourselves in.

    3. Working to thwart the price of oil and the world economy because of a petulant wanna-be dictator

I don’t think the ability of the US Navy to blockade the Strait of Hormuz was ever in question. Unfortunately this does nothing to solve the actual problem

Iran could store oil for at least 12 days production after that they need to close the wells, cost might reach billions if that happens.

    6. Doesn’t matter, everyone in the world is going to be paying more for everything in life for the next couple years or longer.

Roughly 40 per cent of the Gulf refining capacity has been damaged or destroyed by this senseless US and Israel led war, leaving as much as $58 billion of energy infrastructure damaged and over 12 million barrels short on the daily market.

It could take up to three or more years to restore damaged facilities, and several months to restart those that were urgently shut down.

The whole world needs to move as much as possible to clean energy.

We cannot be held hostage and dependent on fossil fuels, they lead to nothing but wars and drive up the costs for all of us in our daily lives. They also fund wars and lead to human suffering all over the world.

Working to what end? Certainly not in the interest of the American People. We don’t need our ships and our sailors being used to conduct *his* business.

That was never the question! Of course they can. Now they are doing the job of the Iranians of choking the strait and global trade

    9. I’m honestly wondering if this was the plan from the get go.

Get Iran to blockade the strait first, but they would obviously still let their ships through. The US then gets the excuse to blockade all Iran ports in retaliation. Iran can’t play the victim card with the strait since they moved to close it first. So now there is little international backlash to the US blockading Iran and severing their oil revenue while keeping the oil infrastructure in place (for a new regime to use).

Just like swinging a dick. Eventually they will realise it doesn’t really get them anywhere and they look like fools.

What do you think the countries who buy the oil that comes through there are going to do. No amount of deep pockets is going to make oil magically appear.

    12. If there’s a blockade then it is not working, since it was supposed to be open.

But didn’t DJT yesterday tweeted he opened it up and will get biiiig hug from Xi?

Yeah so…. Whats it solving other than making the strait non-travable. congrats you blockaded the blockade… So now we all wonder why anyone thought this was a good idea?

America, you haven’t finished your last war. No new wars until you finish what’s on your plate!

    16. Working? What does this accomplish? Can this administration even explain what the goals are to this?
