  1. If Navdeep Bains enters the race. I think he wins. He is popular on Reddit nor does he have the online progressive following of NES.

But I think he is a very good fundraiser, connected to a lot of federal and provincial liberals. Most importantly I think he would be better suited than NES to win back the 905 and flip tbr South Asian vote back to the OLP.

  2. He’s overly qualified and politically connected, but we live in 2026 Canada so that wouldn’t matter as much as his background for some of the electorate.

10 years ago I would have said yes he’d win quite easily. But the way mindset has shifted in the last 3-4 years I’m not sure. Ford also does seem unbeatable im sure we all get some sort of cheque right before the next election.

It does really feel like Ontario Liberal Party HQ and their media contacts have been shopping around all these different candidates to try and find someone who could plausibly stop NES.

A couple of years ago I would’ve said a retread from the federal Liberals was a non starter but Carney has pretty successfully resuscitated the Liberal brand. That said, I doubt he’s the last anti-NES candidate the OLP tries to make happen.
