If I had a dollar for every time some bungled update forced ShitLocker recovery, I’d be a majority shareholder of Microslop.

    2. Bitlocker Recovery on Windows Server, hope you have good console level access 💀

    3. This happens pretty much every time my work laptop updates itself. I have the BitLocker key as a photo on my work phone.

    4. Happened to my mom, bricked the computer sure uses for her store. We got it figured out eventually, but she had to get her home computer to do work in the meantime.

At work, I’m seriously advocating transitioning all our PCs to Macs. I can’t stand to troubleshoot weird issues for hours on end, only for Msft to publish a notice weeks, if not MONTHS later.

    6. It was such a problem that I finally disabled Bitlocker on my wife’s laptop.

You can’t convince me they’re not AI’ing the shit out of their updates. The amount of bugs and slop coming out lately has been abhorrent. This applies to iOS as well…

    8. Trillion dollar company with an army of engineers but they rather vibe code slop updates that break everything

This is what the fourth month straight of updates coming with major flaws? At what point will the heads start to roll over this?

everyday happier that I „downgraded“ to Win10 IoT LTSC, was worried about compatibility but had zero problems with software/gaming. I just wanted the long-term support, was surprised that it’s basically a ‚official‘ bloat-free win10 package, doesn’t even have MS Store *chefs kiss*

    11. FYI:

Though MS blew it, this issue only applies to bitlocker enabled devices using the PCR7 and non-updated boot managers. This likely would only impact poorly configured enterprise PCs with custom policy configurations. Those Bitlocker overrides are not generally implemented in consumer devices by default.

I installed Bazzite on a new build on Saturday. This was a good decision.
