  1. Yeah, 30% (at least) of drivers in Colorado self report as chosing not to wear a seatbelt.  Shit happens in Colorado, where your damned seatbelt.

  2. As I say every time some version of this gets posted, the side effect of all of Eastern Mass being gridlocked 16 hours a day is that we’re not going fast enough to kill anyone.

  3. I’d love to see the percent of college grads next to each state’s results. I bet there is a strong correlation, especially for the top 10 and bottom 10.

While you don’t have to be educated to drive a car I’d wager that educated drivers are far less likely to do stupid shit while driving.

I live in New Mexico and I can confirm that driving here is dangerous. Even after I get a green light or arrow, there will often still be cars from the crossing street driving through the intersection.

How does MA have such a low death rate when it comes to vehicle crashes?

Unlike almost every state I find their roads around Boston very complex given that they curve and going all random directions a lot of times unexpectedly to the point where I have to see on Google maps carefully whenever I turn or where I go, so I don’t go on the wrong street.

  6. Apparently it’s safer to drive in the drunkest state in America, than a large majority of the country

  7. What’s this? A QOL measurement where Colorado doesn’t come out on top with Minnesota??

  8. Every time I drive through Mississippi it is raining, and their drivers don’t have their headlights on. That should tell you all you should know.

Wisconsin is both surprising and not. We give you a few mulligans for your first OWIs. However, we know how to drive drunk (which is a shit thing to say or even be proud of). The number of local news stories I see about some bubba stopped or found in a ditch roll over woth theor 7th OWI is shocking.

39k Americans killed in car accidents in 2024.

Just kind of funny that it doesn’t get politicized with other things. As a society we have just accepted death by car accident lol.

As a Marylander, I’m really surprised where we sit in those stats. The way we drive, I expected a much higher number.

Why is it that Mississippi seems to be the worst in every way? I was there for two months back in the mid-90’s for work and actually liked it (Oxford) but geez, every ranking they’re the worst.

Why are there shades of red and blue not in the key? These kinds of oversights just make my head hurt and cause me not to trust the data.

  14. Yeah, it’s hard to believe Massachusetts is „the lowest,“ as in Boston, it seems the lines on the road only indicate direction, and the cabs are happy to drive on the sidewalk or only take stoplights as „an advisory“ to maybe slow down a bit.

  15. I cant believe Virginia is one of the lowest. Easily the worst drivers I’ve come across as a trucker are in Virginia or have Virginia plates.

As someone who’s driven and lived in Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri, those are way too low
