      Ramping up executions? That sounds like something a level headed regime would do when they most definitely have stable control over their country.

      If this war lasts until December, we will kill more Iranian civilians than Iran has in the last 30 years. In another context, conservatives would be calling Iranians backwards terrorists from a shithole. But we’re supposed to pretend they’re freedom loving ideologues all of a sudden just because they started bombing a foreign country on flimsy pretense. Like sorry if I don’t think you have a serious interest in the well-being of Iranians when 10 minutes ago you were joking about glassing the middle east.

      I don’t like trump, I believe had he started this war when the massive protests were happening then he would get support from Europe and from the democrats, it was a perfect time to start in my opinion

      Yeah, fuck the current regime. The IRGC is a horrible totalitarian government that brutally represses its own people. That doesn’t mean that the west should bomb them or invade them though.

      Iran has executed 650 people in Q1 2026. The methods of execution include, but not limited to:

      Hanging, Iran will sometimes use cranes in public settings to hoist the bodies up high so others can see. Or they will do a regular hanging however the victim doesn’t have a long ‚drop‘ so they suffocate to death.

      Stoning for cases of adultery, where the woman is raped meaning the husband believes the woman cheated on him. The stones are to be large, but not large enough to kill the victim in one throw. Therefore multiple stones will need to be used.

      In lesser degrees there is ‚falling from height‘ and last but not least ‚firing squad‘.

      Homosexuality is a public hanging and one of the worst offenses in the eyes of God. Next to a woman being raped or committing adultery, Iranian govt does not make a distinction between the two.

      Wait, so we should oppose countries that kill tens of thousands of innocent people? I am confused

      Iran executed at least 1,639 people last year, the highest number recorded there since 1989, two non-governmental organizations say

      * 795 – for drug offenses
      * 747 – for murder convictions
      * 37 – for rape convictions

      The report doesn’t break it down anymore than that other than adding „at least 48 women were executed“ but gives no reason for them.

      Honestly, IMO this kinda reporting just adds to the chaos by seemingly picking and choosing which executions to report details on. 1,579 executions are up there but, if half those are for murder and rape are people really upset by the number?

      For those who endorse what the US and Israel have gotten into by claiming that it is „saving the people of Iran“ would almost certainly be the type who would support this heavy handed approach in the US as well.
      The number also doesn’t seem to match up with the „thousands“ that have been reportedly executed either. Why are the NGOs not attempting to record or report on those?

      Not here to defend the Iranian regime before everyone gets butthurt about that. I’m against the death penalty. But the United States has admitted to supplying weapons to support an armed rebellion in Iran. That’s treason. The punishment for treason in America is also execution.

      Don’t worry. Iran has lots of progressive anti-war supporters in the EU and even in the US. As soon as Iran is against the US then somehow whatever it does can’t be that bad (I don’t know why don’t ask me).

      I guess by this logic we should bomb Saudi Arabia too who also set a new record for executions in 2025.

      They also execute for witchcraft unlike Iran.

      This is what the US should be fighting to replace, along with our allies, but that would have been a very involved and developed plan before going in. Instead, we just rush over and bomb a school while acting like the terrorists in the region. The regime and the IRGC need removed but this war is just going to make them more desperate for control and, like these sickening numbers show, murder more of their people to show they’re still in control.
