Certainly, this is a man who is laser-focused on the cost-of-living. In all seriousness, he presents this issue as one of „major importance to all Canadians.“ It affects 130 Palestinians. We have rules on who can apply for a study permit. Applicants have to prove they can study in English, have enough funds to come over and pay for their education, and are proficient enough in their field of knowledge to pursue graduate studies in Canada. This is not likely the case in an Arabic-speaking region with severe instability. Just because they applied, it doesn’t mean they are qualified.
It’s not like we shouldn’t help these people if we can, but this is just reinforcing the idea that the NDP has a lack of focus on Canadians. It’s a problem to dress this up as an issue of major importance to Canadians and put this much focus on it when there are so many other issues facing Canada. This is something that can be put out in a minor letter to the press.
This should absolutely be a priority. Not only is it morally imperative but many of these students will help us battle the special interest lobbies that are currently corrupting all political parties in every jurisdiction.
And that is not even to mention the economic benefit of having dedicated entrants to the country with more varied experiences.
Everyone should be endorsing this move as an international initiative to help combat antisemitism as well.
Everytime NDP stans hail this dude as the saviour, I see him put his weight behind another cause that is a waste of his time.
Ho please , is NDP Trying to get to 0 seats ? cos these talking points here are what is going to get you to zero seats.
Focus on the working class NDP !
I think it’s good politics for the NDP. No election soon, party in the dumpster, and this appeals to the hardcore NDP base. Plus it courts Muslim voters.
