  1. > A death doula — recently depicted in an episode of “The Pitt” in which a woman had terminal cancer — is a non-medical companion who helps support people navigating death, loss and mortality. According to the International End of Life Doula Association, the caregivers can offer psychosocial, emotional, spiritual and practical support.

    > “As my mother was passing, she was lonely, and there was only so much the family could provide,” Kidman told the crowd, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. “Between my sister and I, we have so many children and our careers and our work, and wanting to take care of her because my father wasn’t in the world anymore, and that’s when I went, ‘I wish there was these people in the world that were there to sit impartially and just provide solace and care.’”

While it’s a nice sentiment and a noble thing for her to want to do, wouldn’t the fact that she’s Nicole Kidman somewhat undercut the basis of the service?

I’d be somewhat confused about why Nicole Kidman is there. Is she researching a part? Does she need to do community service for some drunk driving arrest? Is my mind going and I’m imaging a visit from Nicole Kidman? (Honestly, the most likely). There’d have to be a decent period of explanation over why Nicole Kidman is in my room and my last moments, not to mention the general conversation at my funeral, would be less about me and more about Nicole Kidman.

I feel she is way too famous to be able to do this effectively.

If Nicole Kidman showed up at my deathbed, I’d assume a movie was about to start.

Imagine the last words you hear in this world are “We come to this place…”

She won’t even come to terms with aging; how can she deal with dying?

If Nicole Kidman showed up at my death bed, I would assume I am already dead

Too much time alone in that theater

but can you imagine how trippy it would be to look up and see her while your dying, at least she knows how to maintain her composure. good for her doing something meaningful.

Death doulas already have a bad rep; there’s a lot of good ones out there that are overshadowed by greedy scummy people. This is the LAST thing they need!

  10. Can you imagine the last few hours of your life and randomly Nicole Kidman is there?

Someone called me a “Divorce Doula” at work because I helped all my young troops through their divorce processes.

    Death Doula sounds WAY cooler.

  12. Watching her Scarpetta made me think about killing myself! She is almost there!
