> More than 1,000 film and TV stars and creatives, including Joaquin Phoenix, Ben Stiller and Kristen Stewart, have signed an open letter opposing Paramount‘s pending acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery.
> “We are deeply concerned by indications of support for this merger that prioritize the interests of a small group of powerful stakeholders over the broader public good,” the letter states. “The integrity, independence, and diversity of our industry would be grievously compromised. Competition is essential for a healthy economy and a healthy democracy. So is thoughtful regulation and enforcement.”
The Netflix-Warner deal had opposition and now the Paramount-Warner deal has opposition. You chose your poison Hollywood.
Cool, put up the money Hollywood stars
If they were really serious they would refuse to work with Paramount and its subsidiaries
I’m actually looking forward to the Paramount/WB productions. Coming soon: Matrix Reintroductions, Batman: Corporate Avenger, Harry Potter and the Magical President, Last Week Tonight with Rob Schneider. /s
They should buy it themselves and then use their 1,000 star power to help enact societal change for what’s going on in this country right now.
The EU, UK, Canada, and other countries have the power to block this merger locally. If they do not, they’re complicit. The US government created this problem and they are to blame, but the rest of the world can fix it
Surely this will change everything
In the interest of real American free market capitalism neither merger should be allowed period.
So if the deal goes through they will refuse to work for them, right? Right?
Where were they 3 months ago?
The ironic thing is is despite them opposing it they will still do work that is shown on it
Cool, now actually do something like boycotting both studios.
Too late, it’s going to happen. It was going to happen before they announced they were going to put it up for sale. This is just some actors not wanting to say I don’t like this.
